Tonight’s The Blacklist episode begins with Dr. Roberta Sand, she is speaking to a patient about how the adverse ways have manifested in his life, his name is Randall, and she tells him to embrace the light in his next performance. He is then on the way to the venue; he takes out his machine gun and shoots a woman who is standing at a Congressman rally.
Cooper is getting anxious; he doesn’t like that his wife lied to give him an alibi and he knows that it is going to be found out that his gun was used in the murder of his wife’s ex-lover.
Red meets with Cooper, he talks about Mary Parrot and tells Cooper that the congressman wasn’t the target, she was. Cooper says the bullet narrowly missed a controversial politician and finds it surprising that a philanthropist would be the target instead. She single handily spiked dozens of construction projects that she believed would blight her fair city denying powerful people fortunes large and even larger. Red says a crime family is responsible and they all are seen by Dr. Roberta sand, Vito’s orders, the shrink makes them realize their full potential.
Cooper updates the task force on Vito and the therapist, and red thinks the recent resurgence of this crime family is the therapists doing. They know nothing on Sand, no photos, no prints. He also tells them about the congressman not being the target. All of a sudden, Peter Simpson shows up and Cooper brings him to Park. He tells her that he is happy that she wanted him to come. She tells him that she is sorry she didn’t tell him. She says she lost the baby because of the job; she is sorry. He tells her that she has a lot to apologize for and so does he. He says he is sorry he married someone that he just doesn’t know if he knows.
Park returns to the task force and tells them she has been updated on the case. Meanwhile, Red is enjoying time with Agnes and when she tells him that her mother told her he was the most important person in her life, Red is touched.
The task force reviews footage of cameras around the area where Mary was shot and killed, and they see Randall coming out of a building. After some investigating, Dembe and Park head to a shooting range and get an address for Randall, once there, shots are fired, but too late for Randall, Dembe makes his way inside and puts a gun to his head.
Red retrieves the letter that Liz’s mother wrote her.
Cooper gets a call from Lou; they have the ballistics report, the report says his weapon was not the one used in the murder. Cooper says it doesn’t make sense, Lou says nobody is going to find out. Cooper asks what he did, Lou says he performed a little magic and that is all he needs to know, he did it because he knows him and he knows that he did kill the guy, he is not a murderer. Someone killed Kostner, but it wasn’t Cooper.
Dembe and Aram interview Randall, Aram tells him they know about the therapy, that Dr. Sand made him feel it was ok to murder. Dembe tells him to help them and they will help him. Dembe tells Randall that he knows what it feels like to have regrets about his past.
Dr. Sand meets with Vito and tells him that Johnny is not ready for a job, he tells her that he will be replaced with Dante and Dr. Sand isn’t happy about the choice.
Randall sets up a meeting and the task force find Dr. Sand.
Aram is questioning Dr. Sand; she says anything she discusses with her clients is privileged.
Red thinks Liz read that letter and he specifically told Dembe not to show it to her until he was gone. Red gets the letter checked for prints; he wants to know if Liz’s prints are on that letter.
Dembe shows Dr. Sand a photo of her and Dante and tells her that he knows he is her son. She vanished a long time ago, because her marriage fell apart. They fought over Dante, and the more they fought, the worse Dante got. He committed a number of crimes, enough to get him arrested and that is when Vito stepped in. He said if she counselled his people, he would keep Dante out of harms way. Today he broke that deal.
Dr. Sand tells the task force that Vito has a job, it is connected to Mary Parrot’s death and involves her son, Vito said it was urgent. Cooper says they are missing something. Park realizes that where the job is going to be held is near a location where Herman Levy, the informant that is testifying against Vito is being held there, they are probably going to go after him.
As planned, Vito’s men walk into the room and kill the men protecting Herman, Dante is outside in the getaway car. The task force arrives in time, they get Herman and take everyone else in custody.
Red calls Cooper and asks if Agnes had a good time with him, he says yes.
The task force has Vito in custody, Park freaks out on him, she thinks he hijacked the truck that Dr. Sand and Dante were in, but it wasn’t him, it was Red who asks her to be his therapist, and she will protect her and her son. He asks her for three months, at the end of which they will both be free to go. He says he thinks based on her history, he thinks she can stomach his past which is not for the faint of heart. Meanwhile, Park is embarrassed that she thought it was Vito who took Dr. Sand and Dante.
Red tells Cooper that he took Dr. Sand, and he hopes she will help him to become a better man. Red then finds out that the prints on the letter match those of Liz.
Peter is in bed when Alina gets in and she tells him that she wasn’t honest because she didn’t think he would like what he saw, because she doesn’t like what she sees some times. She says she needs to learn to love herself and then maybe he can love her again too.
Cooper gets a call, it is a someone in a disguised voice and texts him a photo of when he was speaking to Lou and says he has audio too, evidence tampering. The guy says he wants so much, and he is confident that he is going to give it to him.
Red has his first session with Dr. Sand, he says he has found light but the dark animates him and he drags others into it. If he is willing to risk everything good in his life when he knows the result will only be a darkness. He then says he recently found out that he was betrayed by his oldest and dearest friend.
THE END!
