The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Friday, July 9, reveals that Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) and Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) burst in the police station to save Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) – and Justin Barber (Aaron D. Spears) ultimately found an empty cage.
In his jail cell on Friday’s B&B episode, Liam smiled slightly as he thought back on a passionate kiss with Hope. That smile faded as soon as Liam thought back to slamming on his brakes the night he hit Vinny Walker (Joe LoCicero).
Later, Deputy Chief Bradley Baker (Dan Martin) approached Liam with the news that he was being transferred to another facility.
Baker warned that Liam’s cushy lifestyle in lockup was over and added that it wouldn’t be that way where Liam was going.
Liam was headed to a maximum-security prison while Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) would remain there since he was facing lesser charges.
Although Liam ranted about his innocence, Baker refused to listen and sauntered out.
In the Spencer Publications basement, caged Thomas continued to explain that Vinny was more troubled than he realized.
Thomas said Vinny was willing to die to set Liam up and that Vinny thought it would bring Thomas together with Hope.
The main thing now was setting Liam free, so Thomas pushed Hope to stop looking for the key and just go to Deputy Chief Baker. However, Hope worried about what would happen if she left Thomas behind.
Hope hated to think about what Justin would do, but Thomas didn’t want Justin catching Hope down there since it meant Liam might never get out.
In Bill’s office, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) kept shutting down Justin’s excuses. He repeatedly pushed Justin to reveal where Thomas was and didn’t buy this whole mystery trip thing.
Ridge argued that if Justin’s son was missing, Justin would be concerned, too.
Justin admitted that was true, but he suggested that maybe Ridge should just give it some time. He acted like maybe Thomas was staying away on purpose, but Ridge begged Justin to help him as a father.
Ridge even threatened to get the police involved, but Justin said that was fine – though it’d be a waste of everyone’s time.
Ridge warned that if anything happened to Thomas because of something Justin did, he’d make Justin suffer in a way he didn’t even think was possible.
“Understood,” Justin replied. He told Ridge to let himself out and took off to take care of something that was long overdue.
At the cliff house, Steffy chuckled over Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo) texting for hourly photo updates on the baby.
Taylor understood that Thomas was busy, but she felt he surely could’ve found time to come see his nephew.
John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) was there with Steffy as Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) and Flo Logan (Katrina Bowden) arrived with gifts.
Steffy assured them this wasn’t a bad time, but she was hoping they were Thomas when they first showed up.
After Flo and Wyatt gushed over Baby Hayes, the conversation shifted to Thomas.
Steffy was puzzled over the news that Justin had Thomas’ phone and admitted Ridge was at the office for a grilling session.
Wyatt then realized he’d worried the new parents and reassured them that Thomas would surely turn up.
Once Steffy was alone with Finn, she admitted something didn’t feel right about the situation with Thomas.
Steffy was also concerned about Liam and wished there was evidence to exonerate him. She let Finn pull her into a warm embrace.
When Justin returned to the basement, he realized the cage had been opened with a crowbar – and Thomas was gone! At the police station, Hope and Thomas rushed in with information.
They were stunned to learn about Liam being transferred, but Thomas and Hope said they had proof that Liam should be released.
Baker found out about the video from Thomas before Hope insisted Vinny was the instigator that night.
Hope begged Baker to let Liam go and stop the transfer, but Liam had already been cuffed and was being led out to the transport van.
