The Resident Recap 02/16/21: Season 4 Episode 6 “Requiems & Revivals”

Nic is awake, she sees Conrad on a couch beside her, where he slept the night. She asks about the baby, he says the ultrasound looks good, the baby seems strong like her mom. She tells him that she wants off the sleep meds. He tells her that she should see a good therapist.

Devon pulls into the parking lot, a woman pulls up and cuts him off. When he puts up a fuss about her stealing his parking place, she throws him her keys and tells him to move her car, she will be in Nic’s room. Devon is then walking in with AJ and tells him about what happened.

Irving looks over and sees Billie, he tells JC that she looks like she went from being a train-wreck to wow. JC looks at her and gives her the keys for her car, and says Devon put in the impound lot. When she heads to Nics room, Irving tells JC that she was the most promising neuro-surgeon resident at Chastain, or was until she had a problem with one of Conrad’s patients and got fired.

Billie sees Conrad and asks how Nic is, he says she is having bad PTSD, she waked up crying. SHE Apologizes for taking so long to get there. She says she has worked the last three years on her issues. He reminds her that her issues wrecked a man’s life, that was his patient and she had no right. She says what she did was wrong and she thought she was acting in the patient’s best interest. She was young and stupid. She says they are all human and make mistakes, penance is her middle name. He tells her that Nic can’t handle any drama. Then he tells her to give Nic what she needs, stay clear of him and leave as soon as possible.

Nic is happy to see Billie and tells her that she missed her at the wedding. Billie says she is there now and will stay as long as it takes.

Kitt tells JC that the board is interviewing doctors for the new CEO position. JC tells her that Mina is meeting with immigration lawyers, then he tells her that they have already lost five surgeons and there will be more.

Nic and Billie are catching up, Billie tells her she has no residency yet, no prospects. Billie asks her how long since she left the room, Nic says she hasn’t. They go for a walk and don’t even make it out of the hospital when Nic has pain in her stomach, Conrad is there and rushes her in for another ultrasound and gives Billie a look of disdain.

Kitt brings JC in to see the patient that is waiting for hand transplant surgery. Andy asks when his surgery is, Kitt says they have a slight delay, they lost their plastic surgeon.

The baby is fine, but there is extra fluid around the heart. Conrad tells her it is going to be ok they just need to find out what is going on. Billie wants to help but Conrad won’t let her, he tells her to let her ego go and go take care of Nic.

Randolph tells Kitt he may have someone to do the hand transplant, his former step-son, Jake Wong. Kitt reminds him that his last exchange with him did not go well, Randolph says this is different, this is business.
Devon is examining a patient who says he has Alzheimers but when Devon sees marks on his arms, he wants to take some tests.

Billie tells Nic she is sorry that she didn’t attend the wedding, but given her relationship with Conrad, she didn’t want to ruin her day. Nic tells her if she loses this baby she can’t help feel that everything is going to come crashing down.

The baby has anemia, they have to do a blood transfusion or the baby won’t survive.

Jake arrives at the hospital and visits Andy, he brings him a baseball to go with his baseball mitt. Meanwhile, Conrad tells Nic they have to do a fetal transfusion or they will lose the baby. Nic wants to be awake, Conrad says no because if she flinches it is dangerous for the baby. Billie is in the room and says she can be awake, Conrad gets annoyed, calls her outside the room, and tells her to leave.

Andy is in surgery, Kitt tells them that they have four hours to do this. In Nic’s surgery, there are complications and they have to stop, they hope what they gave the baby will be enough.

Devon is with his patient who was diagnosed with Alzheimers, all of his symptoms were caused by an accumulation of spinal fluid, when Devon took off enough, he got better.

Conrad is in the cafeteria and so is Billie, she goes over to speak to him. He says Nic is fine but they don’t know about the baby yet. She says she was wrong and should have not butt in. Billie says she knows what she did in the past and she will never get over it. She tells him it looks like he has this, so she will jump, see him in a few years. He tells her to go see Nic before she leaves.

Andy is still in surgery, there is a problem with one of the hands, time is of the essence and Kitt gets the team to work fast to save it. A boy’s dream finally becomes a reality.

Nic is with Conrad, she says she doesn’t feel so good. She goes into an SVT and Conrad goes to get a machine to check her, they think it is her thyroid again. Nc feels the baby kick, they do an ultrasound, the baby looks fine, she is moving and there is less fluid, it worked.

Andy has his hands, and he is able to move a finger.

Kitt is given the CEO job if she wants it, she takes it. Jake is offered a full-time position at Chastain and accepts. Conrad surprises Nic when she gets home that he asked Billie to stay a few weeks to be with her.
