Tonight on FOX their new medical drama The Resident airs with an all-new Tuesday, April 27, 2021, episode and we have your The Resident recap below. Conrad and Nic work on an injured EMT and Devon and Leela becomes trapped with a man who has severe head trauma, causing them to operate with limited medical supplies.”

In tonight’s The Resident episode, the episode begins with a tornado warning, Conrad arrives home and Nic is there taking care of some baby chics, he helps her dry them. He hands her a note that Mina gave him to give to her, it basically tells her not to feel guilty.
AJ wakes up, he reaches out for Mina and then remembers she is gone. Meanwhile, at Chastain, an ambulance comes in with a 7-year old girl named Sami comes in with severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. They weren’t going to bring her because of the tornado, but she collapsed and they didn’t know what to do, her doctor is Dr. Bell. Conrad listens to her heart and lungs when Randolph shows up. He tells Conrad that she has a history of abdominal cancer.
Kitt calls in Barrett and tells him that his new resident is Billie. They don’t like each other and Kitt tells them to make it work. Kitt hears a lot of noise outside and looks out her window, the tornado is coming right at them. All of a sudden the tornado hits, Conrad is screaming for everyone to take cover, Chastain is right in the path of the tornado.
We can hear Conrad tell them to stay away from the glass, but some people aren’t listening. An ambulance is outside and the tornado is picking it up, Nic falls to the floor and Conrad jumps over her to protect her from the smashing glass when the ambulance smacks into the glass.
One man is injured, Nic says it is an open spinal injury just as Kitt walks up. Devan and Leela are trapped in a room, they are ok but a man in there has a steel pipe lodged in his head and Leela tries to keep him calm.
An ambulance driver is hurt, Conrad is attending to her with Nic, she is stuck under the ambulance. Nic says they have to get her inside. She is losing a lot of blood, she passes out and they start chest compressions. Wes runs into the hospital to get help.
Billie tells Barrett that Rose is in the hospital, she bumped her head. Rose tells him it is so stupid, she fell in the bathroom and hit her head, she is sure that she is fine. Barrett tells her that he is going to order a head CT to make sure she is ok.
Sami is in a room with her adoptive parents, all of a sudden blood starts to pour down one of her eyes. Jake and Randolph are there, after witnessing that and her results, they go see AJ and ask if he will help save her life, she has to be operated on right away.
Outside, Kitt is on the scene with Conrad and trying to save the ambulance driver; they have to amputate her leg right there. They are done and get her on a stretcher.
Billie tells Barrett that Rose likes him, he tells her to mind her own business. How he feels about Rose and he wants to interact with her, is not her business. Rose has no bleeds, but Barrett says they have to monitor her. Devon sends Barrett a photo of the victim in the room with him and Leela and they are trapped in the room. Barret says that they have to operate on him right away, they can’t wait to get him to the OR. He tells them to look around for all tools that they can find, remove the steel rod. They lose connection with Barrett, they are on their own.
Sami is about to go into surgery, she is crying and tells Jake that she lost her parents to the virus and doesn’t want to be alone. Jake speaks her language and tells her that he promises not to leave her.
Leela tells Devon that she is not scared, she just needs to process what she has to do. Devon tries to coach her through what she has to do to save the man.
Sami is in surgery, the clock is ticking. When AJ is asked if he is ok, he gets a little heated with his response and then apologizes. He is hurting, but he is not going to let that stop him from saving Sami. They took out her organs and need to get them back in, time is running out. AJ says he found something malignant in her stomach and they need to remove it.
In another OR, the ambulance attendant is losing a lot of blood and Kitt says they didn’t amputate her leg to lose her. They keep working on her, but in the end, they lose her. Amputation was their only chance, but the woman lost too much blood. Nic and Conrad go over to tell Wes, her partner in the ambulance. He says they were two halves of a piece that were better than each other alone. Wes doesn’t know how he is going to get back into an ambulance without her. Conrad says that is the hardest part of their job.
Leela removed the metal rod from the man’s head and there is no major bleeding. Now, Leela is removing fragments, she takes one out and the blood starts to pour out. Conrad goes to get something to stop the bleeding. She tells Devan they need to burn it to stop the bleeding, they find a sawdering iron and she goes to work. Success. Devan tells her she did it and he hopes they get them out of that room soon.
The room is open, Leela and Devon are free with the patient. Barrett is there and tells Leela well done.
Nic is putting surgical tapes on Conrad’s shoulder, he hurt himself when the glass shattered.
AJ is out of the OR, he texts Mina and looks so sad.
AJ, Randolph, and Jake meet with Sami’s adoptive parents and tell them that the recovery is going to be very difficult with constant follow-ups, it could take years. They will have to monitor her organs, and more surgeries could be required. Jake tells them that she made needs to be homeschooled for the next six months. The parents tell them that they have two other kids at home, they care for Sami, but they don’t know if they are the best people for her. Randolph says that he doesn’t understand, they say they are going to relinquish her. Jake is upset, he tells them they are all Sami knows in this country. Sami goes upstairs to see Sami, he sits by her bedside and watches her sleep.
At the Depot sports bar & grill, Conrad is playing pool with Randolph. Nic is there, so are Leela and Devon. Devon goes to get two shots for him and Leela, he tells her she has the right to feel like a medical God tonight. She tells him that the next round is on her. AJ is there as well, having a drink, he tells Jake that where he is standing is the pity-free zone. AJ, Randolph, and Jake toast to Sami and say they will never forget what they did for her in the OR.
Billie is there and she goes over to Barrett and tells him the truth is, she does want his job. He shakes her hand and says no hidden agendas. He tells her that there is nothing between him and Rose. He reminds her that Rose could die at any time. Billie says anyone could, he almost did. He says a year ago, his college girlfriend showed up at Chastain, he thought about what could have been, and she died on his table. Billie says she is sorry. He says He doesn’t think he could go through that again. She says she gets it, but it is a dangerous way to live – look where he is now, sitting at a bar alone.
On to darts, AJ and Jake are drunk, so they bow out. Leela is first and she gets it right in the middle, dart after dart and everyone cheers.
