In tonight’s The Resident episode, it’s the day of Nic’s baby shower. As she prepares, Conrad heads to work. Meanwhile, Devon sees his patient Rose with Cain at a local coffee shop. He leaves, spotting a fire down the street. He and Billie run to help. A man comes out after a blast with severe smoke inhalation.
Austin meets with the doctor with his mom. Her labs look great. She has a PET scan scheduled. Austin gets called to the ER. When he arrives there are several patients struggling with burns and more after a fire.
Bell visits with a young girl named Sammy to bring her and her adopted dad’s food. She hasn’t been eating well. Meanwhile, Nic has to send her father and Conrad off to run errands as they are eager about the baby shower. Devon sees Caine bring Rose into the ER. He asks Conrad to be her doctor.
Austin works with Billie on how to help a patient whose rib has pierced his aorta. She preps him for surgery. Bell is forced to tell Sammy’s dads that her labs do not look good. Conrad meets with Rose and Caine.
Conrad asks Devon to tell him why he didn’t want to treat Rose. Devon shares that he is feeling both protected and jealous in a platonic way. Meanwhile, Nic discovers her friend is hiding something from her as they prep for her baby shower. Sammy is rushed to have a CT.
Nic finally asks Billie what is really going on. She confesses when she was raped she got pregnant. This is her baby shower and she didn’t want to ruin it. Billie shares that she gave the baby up for adoption. The texts are from her son. He wants to meet.
Bell brings Sammy into surgery. She says goodbye to her dads for now. Austin and Leela work together in the OR. He is impressed and will let her choose the music next time. After, Austin calls his mom to meet to see what her scans look like.
Conrad brings Devon good news – Rose has no signs of sickle cell. Devon tells Rose. She thanks him, he has changed her life. Meanwhile, Leela and Austin’s OR patient enters into VFib. They aren’t able to save him.
Austin reviews his mom’s scans with her. She is in the clear! Bell speaks with Sammy’s dad. She is out of the OR but not out of the woods yet. Devon comforts Leela after she loses her patient.
Nic and Conrad hold their shower with all of their friends and family. Billie gives the baby photos of their moms who are misses daily. Meanwhile, Sammy seems to be doing better. After the shower, Billie cries after reading the latest text from her son. She tells him to leave her alone.
