The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the mystery surrounding Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) past brings the question: Is Ashland tied to a Y&R legacy family? It’s possible Ashland is Leslie Brooks’ secret son since Janice Lynde is set to reprise the role for some new episodes this October.
Leslie obviously isn’t a character who pops up very often, so we have to wonder why she’s popping up now.
There’s no real reason to include Leslie on Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) wedding guest list, though that may be the initial excuse.
Why bother bringing Leslie back in the picture for something like that unless she’s going to play a bigger role in the story?
Of course, Ashland practically had sad violins playing when he gave that story about his abusive father and his mother who let it happen.
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) felt like Ashland might be spinning a tale designed specifically to tug at Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) heartstrings.
In other words, we certainly can’t take anything Ashland spilled as fact. The truth is Ashland scrubbed his history, so there’s no way of knowing whether any of what he shared was true.
It’s interesting, however, that Ashland refuses to reveal his real name or the real names of his parents.
Could that be because Y&R fans will ultimately recognize some of those names? If Ashland was born with the last name “Brooks,” that’s something that would matter to viewers.
The Brooks family was a big deal many years ago – and they were made relevant again when Theo Vanderway was given a Brooks connection through his grandfather, Stuart Brooks (Robert Colbert).
Perhaps the show will create another Brooks tie and make Ashland the long-lost son of Leslie Brooks.
Whatever the case, Leslie had multiple nervous breakdowns and suffered memory loss as a result. There were no doubt points in Leslie’s life when she might’ve given Ashland up for adoption.
Naturally, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is more curious about what happened when Ashland was a young adult and suddenly had money to buy those two news stations.
That means Ashland could have other more sinister secrets to uncover regarding what he did to get that money.
Regardless, the show’s preserving the surprise of Ashland’s true identity, so there’s room for a legacy family addition here.
No matter Ashland’s reasons for hiding his birth name, it’d be an interesting twist if he turned out to be a long-lost Brooks family member.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Ashland’s past will come to light whether he likes it or not, so stay tuned.
