Y&R fans know Lily and Billy’s relationship has become strained lately, but things are only going to get worse.
Billy made a string of bad decisions involving Jesse Gaines (Jamison Jones) that wound up costing ChancComm big time.
Lily definitely wasn’t happy about Billy playing right into Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) hands with all his shady moves.
Billy refused to let the Gaines drama go and insisted on resorting to blackmail.
Then, Billy made matters worse by going to Victor and trying to make himself a sacrifice in the aftermath.
Lily scolded Billy about making unilateral decisions and felt like he was just going to leave her vulnerable, so things are already on shaky ground.
Once Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) offers Lily a promotion that would make her the head of Chancellor Industries, that could add to Lily’s problems with Billy.
This may serve as another way to make Billy feel inferior while Lily’s always right.
Lily can’t help it if she has better judgment than Billy, who could probably make better calls if he’d learn to be less impulsive.
However, Billy can’t seem to get past his need to act now and think later! It’s too easy for Billy to get caught up in what he wants without considering the consequences.
Billy made it clear that his ego can take a hit when it comes to business. He just can’t handle losing Lily, but could his reckless behavior lead to that anyway?
Billy can tell his relationship is headed downhill fast, so it’s easy to imagine him making an impulsive move to stop the bleeding.
That’s especially true since Christmastime is almost here.
The holidays often come with a marriage proposal or two on soaps, so maybe Billy will get down on one knee and pop the question.
Billy might feel the need to make a bigger commitment since he feels like the ship is sinking.
It could be Billy’s way of trying to grab a life-preserver as it’s going down!
Unfortunately, Lily might see right through Billy’s strategy and wonder if he even wants to get married.
Lily may think Billy is simply reacting to the conflict and making another rash move they should’ve talked about beforehand.
If Lily rejects Billy’s marriage proposal, it could lead to a painful split.
