The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) may abandon Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor if his issues become too much to bear. Will Chance push Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) to take his place as Dominic’s father and Abby’s new love?
Y&R fans know Chance has been beating himself up for not being the man his family deserves. He doesn’t feel like he’s worthy of the wonderful life he’s stepped back into and is really struggling with the traumatic mission he endured.
Chance wants to honor the commitments he made to Abby and Dominic, but he’s wondering if he really can. Now that Chance has admitted all the troubling thoughts swirling around in his head, it’s easy to see why Devon’s so concerned about him.
Chance’s struggles are going to get worse before they get better since Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) doesn’t feel he’s ready to come back to work yet as of the December 15 episode.
Chance is also starting to notice Devon’s bond with Dominic – and he’s already heard Abby sing Devon’s praises for stepping up for her as well as the baby while Chance was gone.
During the week of December 20-24, Chance will continue to battle some inner demons. He just won’t feel like he fits in this perfect family man role that Abby wants him to fit into.
Chance will be haunted by the mistakes he’s made and the repercussions of his assignment.
It’ll take even more of a toll on Chance, who’ll once again witness Devon’s special connection with Dominic. There’ll apparently be some warm holiday moments as Devon bonds with Dominic in front of Chance on December 22.
Chance might even watch Abby get in on the action – leaving him to witness Abby, Devon and Dominic looking like a picture-perfect family without him.
Since the show’s playing up Chance’s issues and his doubts about whether he’s up for the challenges he’s facing, there’s certainly a chance he’ll walk out on Abby and Dominic.
Chance may feel like he’s doing it for their own good and could perhaps leave behind a note urging Devon to take the lead.
This could force Abby to track Chance down all over again if he takes off without warning.
Could Chance break Abby’s heart by abandoning his family and cause her to fight for love once more?
