The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chance Chancellor (soon-to-be Connor Floyd) could easily crash his own funeral and shock grieving widow Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway). Will that be how Y&R lets their Chance recast make his big debut?
Since we know Chance will indeed return, we have to go ahead and start thinking about how that’ll play out. It’d be kind of boring if Chance just showed up at the Chancellor mansion door. This is a huge moment that deserves to be treated like a real bombshell.
Chance needs a grand reentrance to Genoa City, so why not let him crash his own funeral?
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Abby will indeed plan one as she struggles to accept this loss. Although Abby’s been in denial, she’ll eventually have to deal with the news of Chance’s presumed death.
With so many people telling Abby that Chance is gone, clinging to that last bit of hope won’t be easy. Abby still won’t feel like Chance is dead in her heart, but maybe she’ll tell herself that’s just their love persevering.
Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) will step up to help Abby, so she might argue that what Abby and Chance shared will never really die. Perhaps Sharon will try to frame what Abby’s feeling as a connection that’ll never go away.
Sharon may offer encouragement by insisting Abby will always remember Chance and what they had together.
Sharon may point out that Abby can tell Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor all about the dad he would’ve had if fate hadn’t been so cruel.
Abby may begin to view this lingering bond she feels with Chance as something different based on the guidance she receives.
Regardless, Abby will eventually realize it’s time to say a formal goodbye. She’ll be ready to plan Chance’s funeral – at least as ready as someone in Abby’s position could possibly be.
Of course, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Abby’s other loved ones might argue that they can handle all the details.
They won’t want to make this any harder on Abby than it has to be. However, Abby is Chance’s wife, so she’ll feel a duty to honor his memory and plan a memorial service herself.
Doesn’t this seem like the perfect opportunity for Chance to come walking through the door with a brand-new face?
There couldn’t possibly be a better way to introduce a recast than having Chance crash his own funeral, so let’s hope Y&R goes with that option!
