The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will soon have to adjust to her new normal. As Y&R viewers know, Chelsea was rushed into surgery after collapsing at the penthouse alone, and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) later told Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) that Chelsea’s cerebral aneurysm had ruptured, and Adam was devastated.
Well, during the week of January 4-8, Adam will learn some horrifying news – that Chelsea suffered a stroke and that she’s partially paralyzed and can’t speak.
Elena will explain that Adam’s expectations need to be adjusted in terms of Chelsea’s recovery, and that in time, she may regain full use of her body and be able to speak again. That’s going to horrify Adam on multiple levels.
Of course, Adam will be fully aware that his actions seriously contributed to Chelsea’s current condition. Adam was the one who cut the power to the Chancellor Communications building and spurred Chelsea to try to climb out of the elevator, causing her fall.
Adam will feel terribly guilty about this, and this will probably cause his self-loathing to pick back up.
When Chelsea comes to in the hospital, someone’s going to have to explain to her about her stroke and that she’s looking at a lot of work just to be able to do basic things, like speak.
Chelsea might not be able to articulate her feelings, but surely she’s going to feel very afraid for herself and for Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), who will eventually have to be told about his mom’s condition.
How long until Chelsea starts to really resent Adam for what he’s done to her? Of course, it’s not Adam’s fault that Chelsea was trying to climb to the top of an elevator and fell, hitting her head.
But Chelsea might feel differently about the situation, as she has nothing but time to contemplate what’s happened and how Connor is going to be without his mother for her extended recovery period.
We’ll see what happens here, but we’d say that there’s a good chance that Adam and Chelsea’s relationship might take a serious hit in the wake of Chelsea’s stroke.
If Chelsea does blame Adam, then she’s probably going to be carrying a lot of rage toward him, and when she can communicate, she might just tell him that they’re through.
Whatever the case, it seems that Chelsea’s condition is going to be tough on everyone involved, and it won’t help that Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) will probably blame Adam for Chelsea’s predicament.
