The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will ultimately get busted for poisoning Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) with thallium and framing Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) for it. This just isn’t the kind of plot that someone gets away with on a soap.
Sooner or later, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will realize that he’s been duped – that Chelsea was responsible for making him deathly ill in that hospital bed. What happens then? If Chelsea gets arrested, Y&R writers could reach a crossroads for this character and her future.
Of course, one option is writing Chelsea out for a while. That’s certainly a possibility under the circumstances and worth keeping in mind. However, we also have to consider the possibility that Chelsea will find a way to wiggle out of trouble.
Chelsea probably won’t go down without a fight, so she’s going to need a courtroom strategy. Are we gearing up for a “ruptured aneurysm made me do it” defense?
To be fair, ruptured brain aneurysms can indeed cause behavioral changes in some people. Stroke victims can sometimes become more aggressive and undergo behavioral changes, too.
A good defense attorney can argue that Chelsea suffered brain damage that drove her off the deep end and led to this dark plot. There’s even a chance it’s true!
JT Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) was given a brain tumor to explain away his own violent behavior, so it might be Chelsea’s turn to get a quick fix through the lingering effects of her ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke.
Nevertheless, Y&R fans would be wise to remember that Chelsea is a con artist! If anyone can fool a judge and jury into believing she wasn’t in control of her emotions and behavior, it’s Chelsea.
This could be something Chelsea and her defense attorney cook up as a get-out-of-jail free card.
Regardless, The Young and the Restless spoilers say Chelsea will have to tackle what she’s done head-on and try to find a way to resolve it. Do you think Chelsea will claim brain damage as the source of her problems?
