The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that recent events leave us wondering: Could Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) be Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) long-lost daughter? It’d be the perfect twist reveal for GC’s fiercest rivals, so it’s at least worth considering the possibility.
It didn’t take long for Sally to land on Phyllis’ bad side after she arrived in Genoa City. Phyllis is extremely protective of Summer Newman (Hunter King), so Sally didn’t do herself any favors by going after her job.
Sally left Phyllis fearing that Sally would steal Summer’s JCV spot and potentially go after Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), too.
However, Sally and Phyllis’ feud intensified after the former ran Summer out of town with Tara Locke’s (Elizabeth Leiner) help.
That was really the last straw for Phyllis, who became increasingly determined to take Sally down and bring Summer back home where she belonged.
Unfortunately, Hunter King is set to exit Y&R, which means Summer will be staying in Milan along with Kyle.
Phyllis will feel like she’s losing her daughter since Summer won’t be around to bond with anymore. Doesn’t this seem like the ideal time to introduce a different daughter to Phyllis’ life?
Michelle Stafford and Courtney Hope look enough alike that they could easily pass for mother and child. They’ve both got that trademark red hair and are both schemers to the core.
Sally is basically a younger version of Phyllis, so we could certainly buy the idea of Phyllis being her biological mother.
Of course, this would require a bit of a rewrite, but soaps do that all the time. It’s just part of the world of daytime television since these shows need new twists and turns to keep fans interested.
Not much is known about Sally’s terrible parents anyway, so why not make Phyllis her bio mom and shake things up?
Would Phyllis change her tune and want to connect with Sally – only to get rejected? Would Sally and Phyllis eventually find enough common ground to form a bond?
This is the kind of drama that could pull Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) into the story as well, so it really seems like a good way to go.
Naturally, there’s no guarantee the show will head in that direction, but it’s an option to consider now that Phyllis is daughter-less in Genoa City and hates Sally’s guts. The long-lost daughter story practically writes itself!
