The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, August 27, teases that Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) will run while Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) welcome the baby. Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will also assist in the delivery with some video call coaching, so here’s how things will play out.
In Stitch’s hotel room, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will get updates on Abby’s miscarriage and Max Rayburn’s (Jared Breeze) role in it.
Once Devon and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) explain, Rey will speculate that maybe Stitch created the crisis so that he could save the day.
Rey will think the good news is that Stitch has probably been taking care of Mariah and intends to offer a heroic happy ending.
Next on Friday’s Y&R episode, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) will contact Rey about the glitch-free version of the surveillance footage, which showed no sign of any old man buying protein bars.
Rey will point out that Stitch told another lie and will think all the evidence points directly at him.
After Rey calls Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case), he’ll alert her to Stitch being involved in Mariah’s disappearance.
Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will be furious over Stitch watching them all suffer after kidnapping Mariah. She’ll wonder if Stitch got some sort of sick thrill out of their fear.
Back with Rey, he’ll learn from Devon that Denise Tolliver (Telma Hopkins) found a new lead. A house was rented in town two months ago under the name Ben Russell, which is Stitch’s birth name.
Devon will reveal that the address is 787 Willow Lane, so Rey will realize it’s the same street that Stitch said the convenience store was on.
At the Chancellor mansion, Abby will push Stitch to just please tell her where they are. Stitch will feign confusion and wonder if Abby’s talking about Mariah and the baby.
Stitch will act appalled that Abby would accuse him of something so horrible and will assume Devon thinks the same thing after a text comes in.
Stitch will try to leave, but Abby will push him to stay and will do her best to coax the truth out of him.
After Stitch talks about Abby being a light in a dark world, he’ll admit he came back to Genoa City looking to feel hopeful again.
Stitch will suggest he had no right to expect anything from Abby and will get choked up over how he didn’t protect her when they were together.
Abby will reassure Stitch and understand how pain could drive him to do desperate things.
“Unforgiveable things,” Stitch will say glumly. Abby will insist that’s not true and will know Stitch would never hurt anyone.
Abby will think Stitch was able to comfort her and make her believe Mariah was fine because he knew it was true – because Stitch knew Mariah would come home.
“Yeah,” Stitch will say softly. He’ll admit he never meant for things to go this far and will contend that he was just looking for a lifeline in Abby.
After Abby insists she can be that for Stitch, she’ll note that they have to clean this mess up first.
Abby will think the first step is making sure Abby and the baby are OK, so she’ll ask Stitch to take her to them.
Afterward, Victor will show up to an empty house and an unlocked door. He’ll call out Abby’s name and notice her phone has been left behind.
A quick phone call to Rey will give Victor the news about the house on Willow Lane, but he’ll remain worried about Abby.
In captivity, Mariah will try to prepare for a challenge that’s going to be “off-the-charts painful.”
Mariah will guess Bowie isn’t going to have much of a welcome wagon, but Stitch will ultimately open the door and let Abby in Mariah’s room.
Mariah will wonder if Abby’s real since she’s been having so many dreams, so Abby will promise she is. She’ll realize Mariah’s in labor and turn around to find that Stitch escaped and is gone.
As Abby prepares to get Mariah to a hospital, Devon will arrive – and Rey won’t be far behind. Devon will think they have everything under control, so he’ll send Rey off to look for Stitch.
However, it’ll quickly become apparent that Mariah isn’t going to make it to the hospital.
The baby will have to be born right then and there, so Abby will try to stay positive and calm for Mariah’s sake. She’ll insist she read all the books and watched all the videos, so she’ll think she’s got this.
Devon will get Nate on a video call so that he can coach them through the delivery.
Mariah will try to hold off on pushing as long as she can, but the EMTs still won’t be there when it’s time to. “This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for,” Abby will say.
Later, Mariah will be in the homestretch once Abby sees the head. Once Mariah gives one more push, the baby will officially be in the world. Devon and Abby will marvel over how perfect he is, but Mariah will be concerned since he won’t be crying.
Nate will urge Abby to use her finger to gently clear the baby’s airway and make sure there’s no fluid in his nostrils. After Abby does what she’s told, the baby will indeed start to cry.
Devon will hold the baby as an ambulance draws near, so Mariah will be relieved that they all came together and pulled this off.
“Happy Birthday, Baby Chancellor,” Abby will exclaim. Devon will welcome “Little Man” to the world as Abby and Mariah smile along with him.
Back with Sharon, she’ll be overjoyed when Rey calls about Mariah being found. Sharon will relay that news to Tessa along with the news about Mariah going into labor.
They’ll plan to head to Memorial, but Sharon will call Victor first to let him know Mariah and Abby are safe.
When Victor asks about the baby, Sharon will ask if he’s ready to be a grandfather again. Victor will seem delighted as he wraps his head around that shocker.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say the search for Stitch will heat up soon, so stay tuned to Y&R.
