The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, December 10, teases that Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) will fear Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) is an unfit father in his current psychological state – and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will return Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) Valentine’s Day gift. Let’s talk about all the awkward interactions happening in Friday’s Y&R episode.
At Devon’s penthouse, Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) will seem a tad annoyed about having to preview his work on Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) new album.
Devon will just want to make sure they’re on the same page and will suggest a December 22 deadline – though he won’t want Noah to feel rushed.
Since Noah had total autonomy on his projects in London, Devon won’t get why he walked away. Noah will admit he left London for personal reasons before showing Devon the work he’s done for the album so far.
Devon will be impressed with the way Noah’s captured Tessa’s soul in the photos. He’ll be glad Tessa suggested Noah for the project and will admit he was hesitant due to the history of everyone involved.
Noah will reflect on when he was dating Tessa while Devon was dating Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) – back before Mariah and Tessa fell for each other.
Devon will think it’s clear that Noah still really gets Tessa. Although Devon always considered Tessa guarded and hard to read, he’ll think it’s obvious Tessa is comfortable showing another side to Noah.
Next, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will want to enjoy a meal at Society with Chance and Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor.
Chance will battle safety concerns, but Abby will think it’ll be fine and will suggest a quiet family lunch could help ease Chance back into his normal life.
At Society, Abby will be with Chance and Dominic when they run into Mariah and Tessa.
Mariah will be blown away to actually see Chance in person and will be glad he’s home safe. Chance will apologize for not being there when Mariah got kidnapped, but she’ll think that’s all in the past.
Once Chance and Abby head back to the kitchen, Mariah will ask Tessa if Chance seemed off to her. Tessa will think it’s going to take some time for Chance to feel safe again, so Mariah will admit that what Chance went through was unimaginable.
Mariah will eventually sit down at a table with Tessa and gush over the pics Noah made. Tessa will point out that Noah got her to relax by talking about Mariah and will credit her girlfriend for anything special about the photos.
After Chance joins Abby and Dominic at a table of their own, they’ll discuss Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) leaving for that opportunity in Miami. Abby will insist she couldn’t stand in Lola’s way and will reflect on how she used to be more selfish before she fell for Chance.
However, Chance will argue that he’s no saint. Abby will insist that what happened in Spain wasn’t Chance’s fault, but he’ll hint that wasn’t really what he was thinking about. When Dominic starts to cry, Mariah will flash a look of concern nearby.
Soon after, Tessa and Mariah will decide to tell Chance, Abby and Dominic goodbye before they take off. Chance will assure Mariah and Tessa that they’re welcome at the Chancellor mansion anytime.
Once they’re alone, Abby will admit to Chance that Mariah had some attachment issues due to her kidnapping ordeal.
Chance will think that’s understandable and will reflect on how he would’ve lost his mind without Kim Dunaway (Roxanne Hart).
Chance will admit he can’t stop thinking about his team members, so Abby will wish there was something she could say to help. Chance will take Abby’s hand as he admits there are some wounds that words can’t heal.
At The Grand Phoenix, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will give Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) updates on her new law firm, but she’ll think Phyllis seems down in the dumps.
Phyllis will admit that Jack flew to New York for a meeting with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), which Summer Newman-Abbott (Hunter King) confirmed since she assumed her mom already knew.
Phyllis will admit Jack didn’t tell her and will think that’s weird. She’ll bring Amanda up to speed on her difficult conversation with Jack earlier and will think their friendship needs time to adjust.
Amanda will wonder if Phyllis wants to get back together with Jack, but Phyllis will insist it’s not happening. She’ll note that Jack said he didn’t want to get his heart broken.
Amanda will suggest Phyllis might be feeling rejected, but Phyllis will argue that it’d kill her if she hurt Jack again.
At Crimson Lights, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) will offer to help with Christian Newman’s (Alex Wilson) holiday costume, but she’ll think Nick may actually want to talk about Phyllis.
Nick will contend that the breakup is going surprisingly well and will mention that he’s going to drop off some of Phyllis’ stuff later.
Sharon will hint that sometimes people do that when they’re looking to reconnect or punish the other person, but Nick will deny doing either of those things.
Even so, Sharon will want Nick to be prepared in case this stirs up unexpected feelings.
Once Nick makes it to the hotel lobby, he’ll hand over a box that Phyllis looks through. Phyllis will be taken aback when she finds a handheld gaming system loaded with Prime Aggression 6.
Phyllis will point out that she gave it to Nick for Valentine’s Day, but he’ll think she should have it back since it’s her favorite game.
Phyllis will think it was the greatest Valentine’s Day gift ever – with the exception of the Pepe’s Roadhouse sign Nick got her. Nick will reflect on having their first wedding there and will joke that the sign didn’t fit in the box.
After Nick assures Phyllis that their time together wasn’t a waste, she’ll ask about the tension in his family. Nick will mention that he’s mostly avoiding them, so Phyllis will note that’s exactly what she was telling him to do all along.
Nick will admit Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle) accused him of pushing everyone in his life away, including Phyllis.
They’ll talk about their kids briefly before Nick gets summoned to the ranch for an urgent meeting.
Once Nick is gone, Phyllis will get a text from Jack that apologizes for disappearing on her. Jack will plan to make it up to Phyllis when he gets back.
Once Amanda meets up with Devon, she’ll want to take him out to lunch. That’ll lead to an encounter with Abby, Chance and Dominic at Society. Abby will joke about wishing she knew Devon’s secret when Dominic’s up at 3:00 a.m.
Amanda will add that Devon had the magic touch when Dominic was living at the penthouse, but Chance will seem uneasy. When Chance says they should get Dominic home, Abby will leave with her husband and the baby.
Devon will zone out when Amanda tries to talk to him about her law firm’s design plans. He’ll ultimately admit he’s worried about Chance.
Devon will feel like Chance seemed uncomfortable, but Amanda will feel like that’s to be expected under the circumstances.
Nevertheless, Devon will feel like it’s the same as when Abby was grieving. He’ll argue that babies pick up on every little thing, so he won’t want Dominic to absorb stress at home.
At Chancellor mansion, Chance will cuddle with Dominic before it’s time for his nap. In a moment alone, Chance will exhale deeply and seem stressed. He’ll take a call from Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and assure her that there’s no need to rush back home.
Chance will act like everything’s fine, but Abby will seem worried as she secretly watches him.
Back at the coffeehouse, Noah will talk to Sharon about how Tessa made it easy to get his creative juices flowing again. Once Mariah and Tessa join them, they’ll be on the same page as Noah and Devon about the best photo for the cover art.
After Mariah starts to take off for work, she’ll pause and look back at Tessa laughing.
Tessa will step aside to ask if Mariah’s OK, so Mariah will suggest it’s just nice to see Tessa happy. Tessa will confirm that she’s happy and in love before kissing Mariah in front of a jealous Noah.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Noah’s lingering feelings could become a bigger problem as time goes on.
