The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Friday, July 9, tease that lonely Summer Newman (Hunter King) will face her new reality as Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) tells his daughter goodbye. Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) will also get a family welcome party, so let’s talk about what’s ahead on the CBS soap.
Nick has been a huge help to Summer in Italy, where she’s trying to adjust to a new city, a new apartment and a new life without Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).
Summer also has a new job thanks to Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) scheming – and she was forced to take it after Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) delivered some terrible threats.
That job could help distract Summer once Nick bids her farewell, but she’ll still face the harsh reality of living alone and giving up the future she wanted.
Nick will no doubt worry about Summer as he returns home.
Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will remain concerned as well, but these parents will try to trust that they’ve raised a strong daughter who can cope.
Of course, Summer may remain off screen during all this, but she’ll still be part of the story through Nick and Phyllis’ fears.
On a happier note, the Abbotts who haven’t met Harrison yet will have their chance. A big family bash is coming up, so Harrison will get the warm welcome he deserves.
Kyle will be pleased to see his son gaining acceptance and being treated like a typical member of the Abbott clan.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will also be a proud grandpa and will make sure Tara feels included at the party.
Tara should feel like everything is going according to plan as she grows closer to Kyle and his relatives.
Other Y&R spoilers say Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will have a huge favor to ask.
Chelsea gets her long-awaited reunion with Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) on Thursday’s Y&R episode, July 8, which is when Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) gets the ball rolling on her release, too.
What could be left for Chelsea to ask for on Friday’s episode?
Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see if this is a straightforward favor Chelsea needs from Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) – or some sneaky trick she wants Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) to pull on the side!
It could even be as simple as Chelsea asking Connor to be patient a little longer, but we’ll see how it all plays out.
