The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, October 8, reveals that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will face a sick struggle and confess to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will also deliver a selfish new plea, so here’s what Y&R fans can expect.
At the palazzo, Ashland will worry that maybe he should call off the wedding. He’ll fill Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) in on his conversation with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and admit he was only thinking about what he wanted before.
Ashland won’t want Victoria to go through with the ceremony unless her heart’s in it.
Victoria will note that even when she was furious with Ashland, she never said her heart wasn’t in it.
Despite everything, Victoria will insist she still loves Ashland and still wants to be his wife. Ashland will pull Victoria in for a passionate kiss just before Nate and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) arrive.
After Nate and Elena gush over the great flight over, Ashland will show them to their room.
That’ll leave Victoria to sit on the sofa alone and look a bit pensive. Later, Ashland will seem a bit unsteady outside – and Nate will notice.
Although Ashland will admit he’s not feeling that great, he’ll refuse to let anything stand in the way of the wedding.
Elena will join Nate before they offer updates on their earlier encounter with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
Ashland won’t be worried about the threat Billy poses at all, so Elena will think that’s good news and will talk about all the sight-seeing she wants to do with Nate.
Meanwhile, Nikki will tell Victor Newman (Amelia Heinle) about how she warned Ashland to back out of the wedding.
Victor will be upset since he just told Victoria how happy he was over the impending marriage.
After Victor admits he’s known about Ashland’s past for a while, he’ll argue that the love between Ashland and Victoria is the most important thing. Nikki won’t think Victor’s seeing Victoria’s true feelings under all the armor.
That said, Nikki will vow to support the marriage if it’ll make Victoria happy. Victor will suggest that means they shouldn’t stand in the way.
In Genoa City, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will try to convince Billy to steer clear of Italy and Victoria’s wedding. He’ll call Billy out for playing dumb about Jesse Gaines (Jamison Jones) and will feel like Billy needs to respect Victoria’s choice.
Billy won’t think it’s over yet and will suggest he has no problem trying to stop Victoria from marrying a duplicitous, deceitful man like Ashland.
Billy will taunt Adam about Victor giving him consolation prize Newman Media and not even trusting him with all the details of his latest mission. As for Adam, he’ll argue this is really about Billy’s jealousy and insecurity.
Adam will argue that Ashland is a better businessman as well as a grown-up, not a man-child.
Adam will think Ashland’s going to be a good influence on the kids, but Billy will warn Adam not to even talk about his children. Billy will add that unless Adam intends to drug him and lock him up, then he should get out.
Before Adam leaves, he’ll warn Billy that he’s going to fail and will look forward to having a front-row seat to the humiliation.
Afterward, Adam will call Victor about his latest Billy faceoff. When Adam demands specifics on this whole Gaines situation, Victor will tell him the whole story offscreen.
Victor will still feel like Ashland and Victoria belong together, but Adam will continue to worry about the threat Billy poses. He’ll want to know how far Victor wants him to go when it comes to stopping Billy and Gaines.
Next, Nate and Elena will get a bit uncomfortable when Victoria suggests they could loan them the palazzo if they ever decide to get married.
Elena and Nate will think Ashland and Victoria make marriage look appealing, but Victoria will point out that communication is key. Victor will settle in by Nikki and will promise everything will continue to go well.
Back with Billy, he’ll struggle to convince Gaines to take the flight to Italy with him.
Gaines will worry since it could mean Billy’s delivering him to the two men he’s betrayed. He’ll wonder what’s to stop Billy from screwing him over and throwing him to the wolves.
Billy will insist he’s got Gaines’ back and will finally win him over through the angle of long-awaited revenge on Ashland.
Afterward, Billy will call Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and hint that she may not even have to catch her flight to Tuscany if all goes well. If everything goes the way Billy thinks it will, he’ll suggest there won’t be a wedding to attend.
In their hotel suite, Mariah will insist her mind knows it’s not her job to protect Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor, but her heart hasn’t caught up yet.
Mariah will insist on staying in Genoa City while Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) attends the wedding alone.
Tessa will want to help Mariah find her way to being happy again, but Mariah will point out that a baby of their own would make her happy.
Mariah will complain about Tessa taking that option completely off the table, but Tessa will argue she’s just asking for time to talk about it.
Tessa will urge Mariah to take the Italy trip with her and then they can discuss once they’re rejuvenated.
Mariah will think that sounds like a bribe and just won’t be ready to be so far away from Dominic. She’ll want more time to disconnect in a healthy way, but Tessa will feel like Mariah’s making excuses.
Mariah will contend that she has legit reasons for feeling the way she feels, so Tessa will apologize and admit this is just complicated. She’ll assure Mariah that she won’t let her go through this alone and will want to help in any way she can.
Mariah will beg Tessa to skip the wedding since Leslie Brooks (Janice Lynde) is set to perform anyway. She’ll suggest Tessa could say she’s sick, but Tessa won’t want to bail on her singing obligation since it’d be unprofessional.
Mariah will seem hurt over Tessa keeping the commitment, but she’ll urge Tessa to have a great time. Tessa will want to keep talking about this, but Mariah will shut her down by heading in the bathroom.
