The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Michael Mealor (Kyle Abbott) and Hunter King (Summer Newman) are OUT at Y&R according to SOD’s setside sources. Insiders insist that negotiations failed to bring a deal for either actor, so Kyle’s exit is set to follow Summer’s in this stunning cast shakeup.
A previous blind item hinted about a popular couple exiting one soap’s canvas, so we now know it’s “Skyle.” The show’s invested heavily into Kyle and Summer as their resident star-crossed lovers, but things just didn’t work out for them to stick around.
Summer recently departed Genoa City after being forced out by Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) – with an assist from Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) of course!
Everything felt awfully final considering the whole episode was devoted to Summer saying her emotional goodbyes all over town.
We saw what seemed to be genuine emotion from King, who was obviously saying goodbye to her castmates as well. Kyle fought hard for Summer, but she knew she had to leave or else Tara could bolt with Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) – never to be heard from again.
It was a huge sacrifice on Summer’s part, but she still has plenty of love left in her heart for Kyle. It’s that love that could lead to Kyle reuniting with Summer in Italy for his upcoming exit.
Once Kyle wraps up this story with Tara and her scheme with Sally’s exposed, Kyle will no doubt want to win back the love of his life.
The issue of Harrison can be dealt with one way or another, but the bigger issue of how to fill Kyle and Summer’s airtime remains.
Y&R will have to fill the void with other characters and stories, so this will hopefully lead to more variety and exciting changes. That might be the silver lining to this double departure blow!
As other news and updates emerge, we’ll keep you posted. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Kyle and Summer’s absence will certainly be felt, so we’ll see how the show handles it in the coming months.
