The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the CBS soap could be laying the groundwork for an exciting murder mystery. Y&R writers seem to be making an effort to include more intriguing stories and puzzles for fans to solve.
They did the whodunit of who shot Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) while aiming for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). More recently, viewers were given this poison mystery involving Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), which was Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) twisted plot.
Of course, there are also questions about who really killed Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) father and whatever other dark secrets might be buried. However, we want to focus on another potential murder mystery with Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) at the center of it.
Could Ashland be killed off at the end of his arc? It’s a possibility worth considering since Ashland’s about to make some sinister moves and head into truly vicious territory.
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest there’d be an interesting suspect list after the abusive tyrant’s death.
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) would no doubt be on it, but Summer Newman (Hunter King) might as well. The same goes for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) since he’ll be targeted both personally and professionally through Jabot.
We’ve also got Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who’ll be looking for revenge following Ashland’s decision to renege on the Cyaxares deal.
Victor may not appreciate the way Ashland is targeting Summer and her happiness either, which is exactly what Ashland will do because of her link to Kyle.
There’s even the potential for things to turn sour between Ashland and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) or even Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Naturally, we can’t forget about Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), who honestly seems terrified of her own husband.
We’re picking up a borderline abusive vibe, so it’s very possible Ashland hurts Tara behind closed doors.
It’s easy to imagine Tara killing Ashland in self-defense or just snapping and doing it in a fit of rage. If Tara is the one to take Ashland out, that’d be pretty perfect for the story.
It’d force Kyle to step up as a dad to Harrison Locke – and Summer could serve as a fill-in mom due to Tara’s prison stint.
There might be other possible culprits that emerge, but this would be a great storyline any way you slice it. Y&R could build a solid suspect list since Ashland is developing into a true villain with many enemies.
