The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the show will eventually deliver some answers about Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) snatching, but we should ask an important question in the meantime: Is Ian Ward (Ray Wise) behind Mariah’s kidnapping? It’d certainly be interesting if this old villain came back for a new twisted plot.
Mariah was sold to Ian as a baby and raised in his crazy cult, so there’s certainly a history to draw from.
Ian even drugged and married Mariah once upon a time, so there was a level of obsession here that the show could revisit. It’d be easy for Y&R to claim Ian wanted to steal the child Mariah’s carrying this time around.
Mariah is only serving as Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) surrogate, but someone like Ian isn’t going to care. A baby is a baby – and it’s one Mariah’s going to give birth to.
That might be good enough for Ian if he’s looking for another infant to take in.
Maybe Ian could even have plans to make Mariah his bride again and raise a family with her. Ian is a diabolical character, but he can also be hilarious.
Ian Ward can be cold and calculating, but he can also be irrational and out of control.
This would be a fun blast-from-the-past story and could pull in some of Ian’s other enemies on canvas. Many viewers would like to see Ray Wise reprise his role as Ian Ward, so it’s at least an idea worth considering.
Of course, Tessa indeed considered the possibility of Ian’s involvement when she discussed potential kidnappers with Abby and Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) recently.
Tessa mentioned Ian’s name as a possible suspect, but she basically dismissed it moments later since Ian’s still locked up for his crimes.
However, the show’s proven that Ian knows how to come and go from jail as he pleases. If Y&R wants to make Ian the kidnapper, they won’t let a little thing like jail time get in the way!
Ian could even have helpful minions on the outside taking care of things, so it’s wise to keep Ian in mind as a snatcher option just in case.
