If something pops up that’s strange or seems out of place in some way, it’s definitely something noteworthy that’s worth giving a little more thought to.
In the March 9 episode, Summer made some surprising comments in her conversation with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).
As Kyle wrestled with what to do about Harrison Locke, he noted that he experienced some trauma as a kid and didn’t want to be responsible for someone else experiencing something similar. “Especially if it’s all moot anyway,” Summer replied.
That led Kyle to question what Summer meant, so she pointed out that Kyle hadn’t had a DNA test yet and was just taking Tara Locke’s (Elizabeth Leiner) word for it that Harrison is his son. “Why would she lie about something like this?” Kyle asked angrily.
“I’m just saying it’s a possibility, right?” Summer insisted. “If she lied to her husband about having an affair with you, then she’s obviously capable of being deceitful.”
Nevertheless, Kyle didn’t see why Tara would lie about something like this and argued that he believed Tara since she said it right to his face. Summer let it go in the moment, but she didn’t seem entirely convinced.
We have to wonder if there’s more to this argument – and if Summer just might have the right idea.
Kyle can’t wrap his head around why Tara would deceive him, but Summer made some good points. Tara is a proven liar, so we really don’t know what agenda she might have or what angles she might be working.
Kyle previously insisted that his affair with Tara was intense and that he thought he loved her at the time. Who’s to say Tara isn’t feeling some rekindled feelings for Kyle now that he’s been in touch?
Maybe Tara’s trying to get something going again and using her son as a way to sneakily reel Kyle in.
It’s even possible Tara was having another affair back then. It’s pretty common for cheaters to be sleeping with more than one person on the side, so there could be another father option here.
Tara claims Kyle is the bio dad, but what if the true “baby daddy” is neither Kyle nor Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi)?
There could be a third bio dad option that Tara would rather keep out of the picture. Tara might feel like the best thing she can do is make Kyle think he’s the dad since she’s hoping he’ll leave it alone.
The Young and the Restless writers could make the true father someone on canvas or perhaps introduce another character if that’s the route they want to take. This could lead to a situation where Kyle gets attached to Harrison or at least the idea of fatherhood down the road.
Kyle wants to walk away at this point in the story, but that’s obviously going to change. The show could be setting Kyle up for heartbreak if he eventually realizes little Harrison isn’t his son after all.
It could lead to Kyle wanting to start a family of his own with Summer and spin this storyline in a brand-new direction.
Whatever the case, Summer’s suspicions and desire for DNA proof could mean fans don’t have all the facts yet!
