The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that after the news of Donny Boaz’s exit as Chance Chancellor, fans are wondering who’s next on the chopping block. Chance was involved in a huge story that left him front and center in Genoa City, but even that didn’t leave Boaz safe from casting cuts.
With that in mind, it’s tough to imagine Sasha Calle sticking around as Lola Rosales. Ever since Y&R writers had Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) follow his heart back to Summer Newman (Hunter King), Lola hasn’t really had a story to call her own.
Lola only pops back up to offer support to needy GC residents – and those appearances have become increasingly rare.
Of course, we should also point out that Lola isn’t mentioned in February sweeps spoilers at all. There are clearly no big plans for Lola in Genoa City or else The Young and the Restless would’ve teased them.
It seems more likely that Lola will disappear from the canvas, so she could be one of the other casting cuts that Boaz pointed to in his original Instagram post.
Boaz later edited that post, but he initially suggested that he was told four or five contract players were being let go to make up for COVID-19 testing costs.
When Tyler Johnson departed Y&R as Theo Vanderway, he took Lola’s potential new romance with him. Without a love story to keep Lola busy, there’s not much for her to do other than offer that support we mentioned.
Since Lola seems to be on her way out, it’s time to start thinking about how The Young and the Restless writers might explain it.
Lola could just take a job elsewhere – some irresistible top chef offer that’s too good to pass up. Then again, Lola could revive her old dream to start a restaurant of her own and decide to give that another go down in Miami.
Naturally, we should point out that Theo is headed back for a brief visit later this week. Could Theo run into Lola and praise the restaurant scene in Paris? It’s possible Paris will end up calling Lola away instead – leaving the door open for Theo and Lola to get a second chance at love off screen.
Lola might even have some health issues that take her off canvas if that’s how Y&R writers want to take this. There was a moment not too long ago where Lola seemed almost dizzy, so you never know if that might set up some liver complications that tie in with Lola’s hasty exit.
Regardless, there are no future Young and the Restless spoilers that feature Lola, so her future at Y&R isn’t looking good right now. As other Y&R news and updates emerge, we’ll fill you in.
