The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Michael Mealor (Kyle Abbott) recently made an exit statement, so the Y&R star finally confirmed that he’s leaving Genoa City with a heartfelt goodbye. After SOD reported on Mealor and Hunter King’s (Summer Newman) contract negotiations reaching a standstill, most of us accepted that Kyle would be departing along with Summer.
Once Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) replied to a fan’s tweet and inadvertently offered confirmation on Mealor leaving the show, he deleted it – but the damage was done.
At that point, Mealor decided to go ahead and make his own statement, but he couldn’t resist cracking a little joke about Thompson’s leak.
“In true Chanccomm fashion, Uncle Billy broke the news first…..my time as we know it on The Young and the Restless is coming to a close,” Mealor said on Instagram.
“The last three and a half years has been a truly humbling and life changing experience. I wouldn’t have been here this long without the love and support y’all have shown me throughout every inch of this ride!”
Of course, Thompson wasn’t really spilling much of anything since we already knew Kyle would be exiting, but it was still cute to see this TV nephew poking fun!
There’s a lot of love behind the scenes – and it always shows in social media interactions.
Mealor also shared some special memories from storylines and offered gratitude to all the supportive fans out there.
It’s clear that Mealor valued his time on the CBS soap and will carry everything he’s learned with him as he pursues a new path.
“From appearing on national TV in my “birthday suit” to digging up graves for DNA fragments, every engagement and every heart break, whether you were #KOLA or #SKYLE, y’all were along for the rollercoaster,” Mealor said.
Mealor won fans over from the get-go as a recast and managed to find success as a young romantic lead on the show.
Now Mealor’s leaving a void behind, so we’ll see how the show chooses to fill it. There’s always the possibility of a Kyle recast somewhere down the line.
Regardless, Mealor is grateful that he was given his own chance to put his spin on Kyle.
