The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) revealed he had emergency surgery, which explains Jack’s temporary exit from Genoa City. Y&R fans may have noticed that Jack left town rather abruptly, so now we know the real reason why.
It seemed like the perfect moment for Jack and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) to come together for New Year’s Eve, but he left on a business trip without saying goodbye.
Phyllis heard the news from Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman), but she wound up sending Jack a text to wish him a happy new year.
It turns out there’s more than just a story-related excuse for Jack being off canvas. According to SOD, Peter Bergman had emergency surgery to repair a detached retina, so that required some recovery time and kept him from working for a bit.
You may recall that Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) also had emergency surgery for a detached retina, so Bergman was able to talk to her about what to expect in the healing process.
Morgan was a huge help and more than willing to offer her support.
Fortunately, Bergman is already back at work following his ordeal. He opened up about all this after it happened, so he’s resumed his role as Jack and promised some big shifts for the character in 2022.
Phyllis learned Jack would be away for a few weeks, but The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that Jack will make some changes to his life once he returns.
Some say absence makes the heart grow fonder, so perhaps Jack will come home on a mission to lock in a “Phack” reunion.
Jack may use this opportunity to reflect on his fears about getting hurt again and decide to toss them aside. Now is the time to be brave and go for it.
Jack has gone far too long without real love in his life, so he may return hopeful that he can reunite with Phyllis and finally stop dancing around what they both want.
It’s good to know Peter Bergman is doing well and will soon make an exciting onscreen comeback as Jack Abbott!
