The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Summer Newman (Hunter King) may have no choice but to trust one of her least favorite people. Summer certainly isn’t a fan of Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and would love to see her as far away from Genoa City as possible.
However, Y&R seems to be setting up a scenario where Summer will be forced to consider Sally an ally.
Sally has repeatedly made pitches about potentially being friends with Summer someday. To be fair, Sally doesn’t have a good gal pal and could really use one.
It’s strange that Sally’s stuck on a possible friendship with Summer, who definitely isn’t interested at this point, but perhaps there’s a reason why Y&R writers are making Sally fixated on this.
Summer and Sally are a lot alike, which is what’s made this rivalry intriguing so far. Sally points out their similarities in the March 5 episode and suggests she could use someone to share her good fortune with.
Sally also pushes Summer to think about how powerful they could be if they teamed up.
Of course, this seems like a huge anvil that Summer and Sally will indeed team up down the road. Since Sally seems to genuinely like the idea of being friends, she may get her shot – or at least a shot at turning into frenemies.
Sally may get a chance to share her good fortune with Summer and become a powerful duo with her – just like the dialogue clue suggests.
Since The Young and the Restless appears to be gearing up for a Sally and Summer alliance, we have to consider what mission Summer might have to rely on Sally for. It makes sense that it’ll be this brewing situation with Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi).
Once Ashland arrives in town and all this Harrison Locke drama is threatening to blow up, Sally may feel guilty for being part of Theo Vanderway’s (Tyler Johnson) scheme.
As a way to make things up to Kyle and Summer, Sally could easily offer to help handle Ashland. It would also help Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) son, so that’d be another perk for Sally.
Ashland is a man with quite a reputation, but Sally’s got one of those as well and isn’t afraid of a guy like him. Could Ashland really be any worse than The Bold and the Beautiful’s Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), who tried to blow up Sally’s building with Sally inside?
Sally may think she’s got experience dealing with guys like Ashland. There might even be some situation where Sally pretends to seduce Ashland and tries to score some time of leverage.
Everyone has secrets, so Sally might want to get her hands on some and gain control over this ruthless mogul.
That could be helpful if Summer and Kyle need a way to make Ashland back off. This is the kind of thing that could set up a clear path for Harrison to be part of Kyle’s life.
Whatever the case, The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that Summer and Sally may find themselves on the same side sooner or later.
