The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Summer Newman (Hunter King) may announce she’s leaving Genoa City for a new job – and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) may be heartbroken since he must stay with Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez).
Y&R fans know Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) is pulling out all the stops on her new plan. Thanks to the deal she made with Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi), Sally will get her wish. She wants Summer to be presented with an amazing job offer that she just can’t refuse.
Sally will lay the groundwork for her latest trap on Monday, May 31. She’ll mention that a fashion house called Marketi is looking for a new creative director and will act like she intends to go for the position herself.
Sally will suggest that they’re keeping the search quiet as well, so she’ll accomplish a few things with these dropped hints.
Summer will be intrigued for starters, but she’ll also probably feel the need to compete with Sally. Once Summer realizes how great this position is, she may think she deserves it over Sally. By the time the call comes in offering Summer the job, she may be ready to pounce.
During the week of June 7-11, Summer will announce something shocking to her loved ones. It seems likely that’ll involve this fashion house job offer.
Of course, Summer may simply announce that she’s been offered the position at first. She’ll no doubt want to take some time to mull this over and talk to Kyle about it.
Although Kyle won’t want to hold Summer back, it’ll break his heart to think about being stuck in a long-distance relationship. Summer and Kyle have already postponed their wedding, so this could feel like another huge step backward.
This could easily turn into another version of the story Y&R did when Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) was away on tour. The distance took a toll on Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and left her seeking comfort elsewhere.
We still saw Tessa regularly during that storyline, so Summer wouldn’t necessarily have to leave the show either. It all depends on Hunter King’s plans and outside projects.
Regardless, Summer may think she’d be crazy to pass up an opportunity like this. She might agree to accept the job on a trial basis and return to Kyle if things get too tough.
Kyle could grow much closer to Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) in the meantime and set the stage for some cheating trouble!
