The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Chance Chancellor (as last played by Donny Boaz) isn’t even an on-screen character at the moment. In contrast, Doctor Ben Stitch Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) has just returned to town. Plus, he’s Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) first husband.
Stitch wasn’t one of Abby’s soul mates though. In fact, she told Carrigan’s character that she never loved him, they broke up, and he left Genoa City, Wisconsin, a handful of years ago.
Chance is simply an occasional voice on the phone or the new husband she receives a gift box from. He has no set return date, either.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Odd Storyline Gap Seemingly Filled
Devoted soap opera fans knew that Chance’s sudden departure was weird. It was caused by TPTB deciding Boaz’ contract wasn’t being renewed.
What the actor publicly stated at the time of his departure has proven true. Boaz was as surprised as the audience. He was told that Chance wasn’t being killed off and the character wasn’t being recast. Both points have proven true. So, at least there’s that.
But there’s no getting around the fact that Chance’s removal from the painstakingly developed Chabs arc felt weird. It was followed by a number of months of plot filler, which includes the surrogacy storyline.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – What About Chance and Abby’s Baby?
Chance and Abby’s baby plan should have been joyful, but now seems like something that was created for Ordway’s character to do during what was a gap period in the plot. Carrigan’s return to the cast fills appears to end that portion of the oddness.
It was smart to weave Tricia Cast (Nina Webster) and Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland) into Abby’s everyday life. Nina, as an iconic Y&R persona and Chance’s mother, and Mariah have provided Abby needed, believable support. Plus, Grimes’ versatility and comedic timing elevates any storyline.
So, what’s the plan if Chance isn’t coming back? Will Stitch be involved in the birth, as he’ll become a rehired doctor at GC Memorial?
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Mad Max Rayburn’s Recovery Enables Stitch’s Stay
Stitch said that his son’s, Max Rayburn (Jared Breeze), recovery hasn’t gone well.
Dialogue and replayed scenes refreshed viewers memories and offered newer fans a catch-up regarding his brain tumor and the consequences of Max having set a trap for Abby at the GC Athletic Club, where she tripped down the steps and miscarried Stabs’ baby.
So, it’s possible that Max isn’t being written back into the show, which would allow Stitch to remain in GC.
If Chance remains on his extended stay, then Abby and Stitch could revive their connection and then maybe she does fall in love with him this time around.
