The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Thursday, August 19 Recap – Stitch Returns – Mariah’s Kidnapper Child Motivation

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 19, reveals that Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) will return after Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) text strategy is carried out. Rey will also consider the disturbed kidnapper’s child motivation, so here’s how things will go down on Thursday’s Y&R episode.

In captivity, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will try to figure out why someone would be holding her hostage. She’ll figure this is about money, especially since this baby is a Chancellor-Newman-Abbott and that means he’s worth a fortune.

However, Mariah won’t get why she’d be trapped for so long. She’ll wonder if this is about her instead and will worry it’s connected to her time in the cult.

Mariah will be losing it a bit, but she’ll vow to stay sane and will promise Bowie they’ll find their way home.

At Crimson Lights, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will be back from her trip and will assure Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) as well as Rey that her sister was fine.

There’ll be no reason to think anyone connected to Tessa or Crystal Porter’s (Morgan Obenreder) past has resurfaced.

Rey will explain that Mariah hasn’t used her credit cards or made a single phone call, so Tessa will be even more terrified than before.

She’ll blame herself for not being more vocal about her concerns from the get-go, but Rey will insist there wasn’t enough info for an investigation at the time. Sharon will ask what they can do to help, so Rey will admit there’s indeed something.

Meanwhile, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will struggle to keep her mind from going to a dark place.

Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) will stop by the Chancellor mansion to reveal that he reached out to Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) and learned about a development in Chance Chancellor’s (last played by Donny Boaz) case.

Although Devon won’t have more details, he’ll insist Christine is going to try and get a message to Chance about the danger Mariah’s in.

Abby will blow up at Devon for crossing the line, but Devon will point out that Chance decided to have a child with Abby and needs all the facts.

Once Sharon and Tessa join Devon and Abby, they’ll reveal Rey’s advice to keep texting the person posing as Mariah. It might buy them some time if the captor thinks the plan is working.

As for Devon, Abby will walk him to the door and patch things up after their earlier argument. She just won’t want Chance coming home until he’s ready, but Devon will feel like other agents could probably step up in Chance’s place.

Back at the coffeehouse, Devon will find Rey and offer to put up a reward.

Rey will worry it would just tip the kidnappers off and put Mariah in more danger. He’ll consider that Mariah’s pregnancy could be a motive in the abduction.

“What if this is some disturbed person who desperately wants a child?” Rey will ask.

Devon will fret over what might happen to Mariah after the birth, but Rey will plan to find Mariah before they find out.

Once Devon’s alone, he’ll call someone to set up a meeting as soon as possible. Back with Sharon, Abby and Tessa, they’ll all discuss how their fake supportive texts sound before sending them.

Later, the kidnapper will text back to say thanks for checking in and send love back to them.

When someone knocks on the door of the Chancellor mansion, Abby will be surprised to see Stitch standing there.

Stitch will sense that something’s wrong, so Abby will admit that Mariah’s still missing and will add that they’re really scared for her.

“Come here,” Stitch will say before pulling Abby into a hug. There’ll be tense, ominous music that suggests Stitch is indeed behind Mariah’s ordeal.

At Society, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will be there to pick up takeout when Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) spots him by the bar.

Nick will allude to Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) questionable choices in the past and will point out a nearby Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) as one of them.

Ashland will think Nick’s implying that he’s another one of Victoria’s mistakes, so he’ll insist that he’s not Billy and that Victoria doesn’t need to justify her actions.

Ashland also think Nick should stop passing judgment since they’re putting the past in the past and focusing on the future.

Once Billy spots a peeved Ashland leaving, he’ll join Nick at the bar. Billy will contend that they’re on the same page when it comes to Ashland, but Nick will think their reservations come from different places.

Billy will argue that Billy is jealous and perhaps in denial about Victoria moving on. Nick’s advice for Billy will be to let Victoria live her life and keep living his own.

Afterward, Nick will head to the ranch and share that he has an odd feeling about Ashland.

Nick will offer updates to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) about Ashland saying something about keeping the past in the past.

Nick will admit it occurred to him that they don’t know anything about Ashland’s history. He’ll push Victor to use his resources and dig around to find the stuff nobody else knows.

Victor will agree to do just that and will suggest that if there’s something to be found, they’ll find it BEFORE the wedding date!

When Ashland returns home with takeout, Victoria will have a romantic setup waiting for him. Billy will interrupt briefly claiming he wants to talk about ChancComm’s recent Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) article, but Victoria and Ashland will get rid of him.

Victoria will think the people in her life have boundary issues and will want to keep the focus on her looming wedding to Ashland.

Back with Billy, he’ll be sitting at a Society table when Victor appears and glowers over him. “You stay out of my daughter’s life. She’s no longer of concern to you,” Victor will warn.

The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that Billy may keep meddling anyway, but Victoria may be glad he did down the road!
