The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Thursday, December 30 Recap – Abby Accuses Devon of Saying She’s A Bad Mom

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, December 30, teases that Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will accuse Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) of judging her as a bad mom while Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) sets a trap for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).

At The Grand Phoenix on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) won’t love the idea of being a fifth wheel at Lauren Baldwin’s (Tracey E. Bregman) celebration with Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson).

However, Lauren will convince Phyllis that she needs her to play referee in case things get heated with Chloe.

Lauren will also urge Phyllis to text Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and wish him a happy new year, so Phyllis will indeed send him a sweet message once she’s alone.

At Chelsea’s penthouse, she’ll tell Chloe that Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) is sleeping over at a friend’s place.

Chelsea will decline to attend Chloe’s New Year’s Eve celebration in favor of a quiet night at home – and she’ll mention perhaps inviting Adam to watch the fireworks.

That’ll leave Chloe frustrated as she realizes Chelsea is headed down the same old path.

Although Chloe will argue that there are plenty of other “beautiful, sweet non-toxic men” who could make Chelsea happy, Chelsea will feel like what she has with Adam is unique. She’ll feel like things were normal and special when Adam came over for Christmas.

Chelsea will be convinced that Adam has changed just like she has, but Chloe won’t think that means they should get back together.

Chloe will at least want Chelsea to put this on hold and come celebrate tonight, so Chelsea will realize Chloe’s holding back.

Once the wheels start turning, Chelsea will determine that Adam must have plans with Sally.

Chloe will suggest she doesn’t know for sure since Sally was being evasive, but Chelsea will feel confident that’s what Sally was trying to hide.

When Chelsea wonders how Chloe’s going to stop this, Chloe will argue that Adam doesn’t need her permission on who he goes out on a date with.

Chelsea will panic over Chloe using the word “date,” but Chloe will act like she misspoke since Sally specifically said it wasn’t one.

Regardless of what Sally wants to call it, Chelsea will fume over her trying to get her hooks into Adam.

Chelsea will once again decline to attend Chloe’s New Year’s Eve dinner and will cryptically talk about having plans now.

At Society, Sally will bump into Adam and wonder if he’s given any more thought to doing nothing together for New Year’s Eve. She’ll throw out some suggestions on how the night might go before settling on pizza and a Hitchcock film.

Adam will admit he’s a huge Hitchcock fan, so Sally will smile as she suggests that maybe he’ll hear from her…or not.

Later, Chelsea will seem upset as she calls Adam and asks if he can come over to the penthouse soon.

Once Adam arrives, Chelsea will assure him that Connor is fine and staying with a friend. She’ll talk about letting things build before insisting she has to get out of there.

Chelsea will feel haunted by the ghosts of their old memories at the penthouse. She’ll wish she could go back and realize what she was throwing away before it was too late.

Adam won’t think it’s wise to dwell on the past, but Chelsea will think back to New Year’s Eve two years ago and how they reconnected. She’ll wonder what happened and how they managed to lose it all.

At Society again, Chloe will complain to Kevin about the rivalry that has developed between Chloe and Chelsea.

Chloe won’t think Adam deserves to have two talented women fighting over him.

In fact, Chloe will think Adam deserves to be alone and miserable for the rest of his life.

Chloe will decide that since she can’t convince Sally and Chelsea to back off, perhaps the solution is convincing Adam to distance himself.

At the Chancellor mansion, Abby will feed Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) his bottle and admit to Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) that she didn’t sleep much.

Abby was up worrying about Devon’s shared custody request, so she’ll reflect on how blindsided they both were.

Abby will worry that maybe Devon considers her an irresponsible parent because she left Dominic and went looking for Chance in Spain.

Abby will also grow concerned about what’ll happen if they tell Devon no.

Chance will ask how far Abby thinks Devon would take this, so she’ll hate that they’re even having this conversation.

Abby will feel confident their contract is solid, but she’ll hope it won’t be a problem that she handled it while Chance was gone.

Chance won’t think it’ll even come to that, but Abby will remain on edge.

Abby will get that it must be scary for Devon not to have a legal guarantee, but she’ll think they have to do what’s best for their son and their family.

At Crimson Lights, Devon will show up to help Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) move her stuff out of the apartment upstairs.

Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will get updates on Devon pushing for more time with Dominic, but Devon won’t have high hopes since it’s taking so long to get an answer.

In a moment alone, Nate will express concern to Elena that his advice for Devon might backfire. Elena will offer reassurance and contend that it’s too early to assume the worst.

When Abby and Chance arrive, they’ll have an awkward encounter with Devon. Abby will want to speak with Devon privately, so they’ll step out on the patio.

Since Abby didn’t see Devon’s shared custody request coming, she’ll wonder if he’s mad about something.

Devon will deny that, but Abby will feel like he’s implying that Dominic can’t rely on her. She’ll push Devon to be honest and will ask if this is about Spain.

Abby will wonder if Devon thinks she abandoned her son and let him down. Devon will insist he’s not criticizing Abby and Chance’s parenting skills at all, but Abby will be convinced that something’s changed.

Abby will get that Chance isn’t used to taking care of a baby, but she’ll argue that her husband will learn.

Devon will maintain that he’s only trying to help, but Abby will snap that there’s more to it and will think they both know it. “You’re not asking to babysit; you’re asking for shared custody…for legal rights to my son!” Abby will shout.

Devon will promise it wasn’t his intention to make Abby or Chance defensive.

When Dominic starts crying, Abby will insist she has to get back to him. She’ll glare at Devon as he goes – and moments later, he’ll bail on helping Elena move in with Nate.

Elena will guess that didn’t go well after Devon heads out the patio door.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Devon and Abby’s battle may be far from over, so stay tuned.
