The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 8, reveals that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will disappear while Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) fights for Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and his mom will also reunite in a touching scene, so here’s what Y&R fans can look forward to.
At Newman Media, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will upset Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) with the news that he wants to postpone their Italy trip.
Victorwant to stay in town for Connor’s sake, but Nikki will point out that Connor has Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to support him.
Nikki will add that Summer Newman (Hunter King) needs their support as well, so Victor will relent and decide the trip will move forward.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will be in the park under the supervision of an orderly. She’ll thank Dr. Hedges (Michael Bofshever) for the field trip and take it as a sign that he’s going to approve her release soon.
Dr. Hedges will note that there are protocols to follow, so he can’t make it happen immediately. Chelsea will hint that she understands that now, but she won’t be so sure how long she can be that understanding.
Chelsea will convince Dr. Hedges to contract Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) for a visit, but the doc will want Chelsea to meet with Adam first.
Once Adam appears, he’ll have a private conversation with Chelsea about her fake breakdown and her deal with Victor.
Adam will admit he knows about all that, but he’ll think Chelsea made a huge mistake with the blackmail plot. Victor needs to trust Chelsea, but she proved she was a loose cannon and that she was unreliable.
Adam will assure Chelsea that he doesn’t want Connor to grow up without a mother, but he’ll worry about the possibility of Chelsea grabbing their son and running.
Chelsea will argue that if she really wanted to do that, she would’ve done it instead of clearing Adam’s name. She’ll argue that she doesn’t want a life of fake identities and constantly looking over her shoulder.
Chelsea will acknowledge that Connor isn’t a little kid anymore and wouldn’t want to be away from his dad. Adam will appreciate Chelsea confessing to clear him, so he’ll want to return the favor by convincing Victor to come around.
However, Adam will insist Chelsea must continue outpatient treatment and stop with all the blackmail. He’ll want Chelsea to play by the rules.
Adam will add that he’d do anything for Connor, but he’ll need Chelsea at her best for their son. He’ll contend that Chelsea is so close to getting what she wants if she’ll just listen and let him help her.
At Society, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will join Chloe and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) at their table. He’ll note that Dr. Hedges told him Chelsea has been spending a lot of time with Chloe.
Michael will admit he’s still curious though the case if closed. He’ll wonder what Chloe and Chelsea talk about during these visits, so Chloe will suggest they discuss the kids and fashion.
Chloe will argue that they have really good conversation since she doesn’t just Chelsea. Although Chloe won’t condone what Chelsea did, she won’t think it’s right for Chelsea to be cut off from Connor completely.
After Chloe rants about Adam, Michael will wonder why Chloe went to work for him. Chloe will claim it’s about making sure Chelsea has a job waiting for her when she gets out.
Michael will sense that the people closest to Chelsea think she’s going to be released sooner rather than later – almost like they knew it was never that serious in the first place.
Chloe will insist she didn’t know she needed to bring a lawyer to lunch – and Kevin will also object to what Michael’s implying.
However, Michael will suggest he’s just saying whoever was the poor judgement to help Chelsea got away with it this time.
Over at Crimson Lights, Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) will note that things seem to be back to normal between Rey and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) following their trip.
Sharon will insist things are going well and that Adam moving in basically next door won’t be a problem for her.
Sharon won’t think it seems to be a big deal for Rey either, but Faith will mention that Rey went on a run in town instead of the ranch. Faith will guess that was to reduce the chances of running into Adam.
Since it’s Grandpa’s son and his ranch, Faith won’t think she has a right to object. After the way Adam stepped up during the kidney crisis, Faith will want to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Still, Faith will admit she’s not going to be happy if Adam starts messing with Sharon’s marriage again. Sharon will assure Faith that she doesn’t have to worry about that.
At Newman Media, Adam will offer updates to Victor on his meeting with Chelsea. He’ll think it went well, but Victor will fret over Chelsea going free and then running off with Connor.
Adam won’t think that’s going to happen since it would jeopardize Chelsea’s relationship with Connor if she fled.
Victor still won’t trust Chelsea, but Adam will argue that he’d rather work with her than go to war. That’ll lead Victor to make a call about getting in touch with Chelsea’s lawyer and seeing about an early release.
Victor will tell Adam that he hopes they won’t regret their decision. “She is a dangerous woman,” Victor will insist.
Back at the park, Chelsea will explain what went down with Adam and will admit she doesn’t trust him to help her. Chloe won’t really trust Adam either, but she’ll think it’d be better to wait and see if he’ll make good on his promise.
That would be preferable than Chelsea confessing that she faked her breakdown, but Chelsea will suggest that depends on how long she has to wait.
While he’s out on his run, Rey will spot Chelsea with Chloe and wonder what she’s doing there.
Chelsea will joke that the town is safe and will point out she has an orderly as a babysitter. She’ll claim this outing is a reward for good behavior.
Chloe will promise to get Chelsea’s message to Connor and will comment on how much better she’s doing before taking off. Once Rey’s alone with Chelsea, he’ll agree that she’s indeed looking stronger.
Chelsea will acknowledge that she hasn’t seen Connor yet and will suspect it’s because Adam’s trying to punish her.
When Rey asks about Chelsea’s plans once she gets out, Chelsea will suggest she doesn’t want to leave town because of Connor.
Chelsea will think her son deserves to grow up knowing his family, so Rey will think Chelsea’s got her priorities straight. Rey will wish Chelsea luck on her recovery before he resumes his run.
After Adam and Connor show up at the coffeehouse, they’ll chat with Sharon and Faith. Connor will get excited when Faith agrees to give him some pointers on riding horses.
Faith will take him to the back for fresh brownies, so Adam will seem pleased over the cousins bonding. He’ll tell Sharon that Faith is almost like a big sister to Connor.
Adam will also tell Sharon about Chelsea possibly being released soon. He’ll admit Connor doesn’t know much about Chelsea’s real situation before Rey pops up and mentions seeing Chelsea in the park.
Connor will overhear, so Rey will explain that the doctor said she could get some fresh air. Connor will decide that if Chelsea can talk to Rey, then she can talk to him, too.
Adam will agree to look into it before stepping aside to discuss the matter with Rey, who’ll argue that it’s cruel to keep Chelsea and Connor apart any longer than necessary.
Soon after, Adam will take Connor to the park, where the mother and son will share a hug during their heartfelt reunion.
When Chloe returns to Society and finds Kevin alone, he’ll scold her for getting defensive with Michael earlier. Kevin will be even more upset over Chloe dropping everything to see Chelsea again.
Kevin will warn that cases can get reopened and won’t want her caught in the Newman crossfire. Kevin will think Chloe needs to spend less time with Chelsea and reconsider taking the job Adam offered.
At the Chancellor mansion, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will mention Mariah’s last-minute business trip to Nina Webster (Tricia Cast).
Mariah supposedly texted Abby from the airport.
Nina and Abby will talk about how responsible Mariah’s been throughout the pregnancy – how she’s gone above and beyond for the baby.
Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will wake up late since she had a gig the night before, but she’ll admit the real culprit of her long night was staying awake waiting for Mariah’s goodnight text.
Tessa will be perplexed since Mariah still hasn’t gotten back to her this morning.
Tessa will mention that Mariah didn’t even take her overnight bag or new maternity clothes, so she really must’ve left in a hurry.
Abby and Nina will keep trying to explain away Mariah’s strange behavior before Abby finally decides she’ll just call Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), who’s Mariah’s boss.
Abby will leave a voicemail in hopes of finding out what hotel Mariah is staying at, but some disturbing news will come when Jack calls back. Jack will admit he didn’t know Mariah was leaving town at all.
Abby will guess maybe Mariah just made her own arrangements since she’s the department head. She’ll assume Mariah will have some hilarious explanation for all this as usual later.
“I sure hope so,” Tessa will reply nervously. Abby, Tessa and Nina will all seem uneasy despite their attempts to stay positive about Mariah’s sudden disappearance.
