The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, December 7, reveals that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will be haunted by his traumatic past – and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will skip the homecoming party. Here’s how the action’s set to play out on Tuesday’s exciting Y&R episode.
At The Grand Phoenix, Chance will seem uncomfortable with his hero’s welcome. He’ll insist all the cheering isn’t necessary, but the guests will disagree.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will corner Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) at one point to talk about the happy couple. He’ll keep gushing over Chance and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) love, so Phyllis will seem rather flustered as she’s reminded of her own feelings for Jack.
After Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) interrupts, he’ll thank Jack for helping Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) with her search for Abby in Spain. Jack will admit that Chance was quiet on the plane and will feel like he’s going to need some time to heal psychologically.
At Crimson Lights, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will stop by and surprise Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) by not being at the party. Nick will argue that he doesn’t want to ruin it by showing up. He’ll mention his confrontation with Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi), which Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle) walked in on.
Victoria was the one who filled Nick in on Chance’s return, so Nick will consider that further proof that he’s out of the loop. Sharon will hint that she thought Phyllis might have something to do with this, but she’ll suggest nothing should stand in the way of Nick celebrating Abby and Chance’s love.
When Nick asks if maybe he’s doing something to push people away, Sharon will wonder where he got a crazy idea like that. She’ll assume it came from Phyllis, but Nick will admit it came from Victoria instead. Sharon will assure Nick that he’s a good man with pure intentions. She’ll suggest the problem is that Nick expects everyone around him to be as good as he is.
Mariah will nearly leave when she spots Sharon and Nick having their conversation, but Sharon will stop her. Nick will admit he was just leaving anyway, so Mariah will stick around and come clean about why she’s not attending Chance’s bash.
Despite spending two hours trying to talk herself into it, Mariah will feel out of place since she’s not family. Sharon will argue that Mariah is indeed family as far as Chance and Abby are concerned, but Mariah won’t deem herself worthy of that status and will think things would be awkward. She won’t even be sure Chance knows how attached she got to his son.
Sharon will keep encouraging Mariah to attend, but Mariah will insist this is Chance’s moment to shine. She won’t want to take anything away from that and will think it’s best if she sits this one out.
Back at the party, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will guess Chance would rather be anywhere but here. She’ll assure Chance he doesn’t have to pretend with her and will assume he’s overwhelmed.
Chance will admit he’s used to staying away from crowds like this, but he’ll be truly grateful for everything. He’ll thank Victor as well and note that he’s all about focusing on the future. Chance will also meet Ashland and catch up with Victoria briefly before Victor makes a toast to the reunited couple.
Chance will tell Abby that he has to do something real quick, so she’ll seem worried. He’ll turn down Abby’s offer to go with him and will step outside the lobby. Chance will take some deep breaths and loosen his collar before Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) appears.
After Devon asks if he’s OK, Chance will admit he’s not really used to all the adulation. He’ll think Devon’s the one who needs to be commended, though Devon won’t think he’s a hero for pitching in while Chance was gone. Chance will seem down on himself as he says he should’ve been in Genoa City to protect his wife and son.
Back inside, Victor will wish Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) a happy retirement and comment on Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) being an interesting choice for her successor. He’ll think that as long as Jill keeps Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) away from the reins, Chancellor Industries will do very well.
Victoria will glare at Victor and Jill’s interaction before she decides to approach Jill herself. She’ll suggest that Newman-Locke is willing to pay whatever it takes for ChancComm and will argue that a sale to them will help Chancellor Industries save face.
Victoria will think it’d good for Billy if he didn’t lose to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) again. Jill will find it fascinating that Victoria is so interested in helping Billy when she was part of the plan to bring him down!
Afterward, Victoria will tell Ashland that they’ll have to up their game with Jill, so he’ll assure his wife that he’s ready to play. Once Phyllis gets everyone’s attention for Chance, he’ll make a speech about how blessed and grateful he is to be home.
Chance will note that his team members were his family and were the real heroes, so he’ll get everyone to lift a glass in their memory. He’ll also vow never to go anywhere without Abby and Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor ever again.
Chance will corner Abby once his speech wraps up and ask if they can get out of there, so they’ll use Dominic as an excuse and take off. Victor will look perplexed as he watches Chance leaving with Abby – like he’s already seeing the warning signs of the psychological toll Chance’s mission took on him.
Nick will show up after Chance and Abby have already gone, so Devon will fill him in. After Nick notes it must be nice not having to rush home to a baby, Devon will seem a little sad as he admits it’s certainly a lot quieter.
Nikki will want Nick to stay despite the guests of honor leaving, but Nick will take off instead of dealing with Victor and all the Newman family drama. Back with Jack, he’ll reluctantly turn down Phyllis’ offer to stay and talk over drinks. Jack will be tired from his trip, but he’ll wish Phyllis sweet dreams as they share a little moment.
Over with Ashley, she’ll tell Nikki and Victor that Chance really needs their attention. Victor will agree that Chance seems psychologically fragile and will think it’s wise to keep an eye on him.
Once Chance returns home with Abby, she’ll want to make sure he’s doing OK. Chance will insist he’s just jet-lagged and will tell her the party was great. He’ll promise never to put Abby through another nightmare like she was forced to endure since nothing’s more important than being her husband and Dominic’s father.
After Chance is alone with the baby, he’ll note that no one is ever going to love Dominic as much as his mom and dad. Chance will talk about how Dominic changed his life and will feel like he’s the real miracle here.
As Chance holds Dominic, he’ll be haunted by the praise he received about being a hero. Chance will sit deep in thought as all the words celebrating him echo inside his head.
