The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, May 31, teases that Summer Newman (Hunter King) will consider an ASAP wedding to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) while Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) plan their second honeymoon. Let’s discuss what’s in store on Monday’s Y&R episode.
At the Abbott mansion, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will vow to call the police if necessary – though he won’t want to do that for Harrison Locke’s (Kellen Enriquez) sake.
Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) will encourage Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to let him in, so that’ll lead to Ashland’s furious outburst. He’ll argue that Tara technically kidnapped his son and will want to see Harrison immediately.
Ashland will refuse to back down on the custody battle and will take angry jabs about Tara running off to the family of the man she cheated with. He won’t get why the Abbotts are getting involved in such a personal matter.
Tara will finally agree to let Ashland visit Harrison – and when they come back from Harrison’s room, Tara will seem unsettled.
Kyle will check on Tara, who’ll admit Ashland was once again the perfect dad and handled things well. However, Kyle will seem sick of the whole Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde act that Ashland keeps pulling.
Ashland will step outside to phone someone about doing whatever it takes to get his son back.
When Ashland rejoins Kyle, Jack and Tara to start barking threats, Kyle will answer the door and get the paternity results delivered to him. He’ll reveal he’s got evidence that Harrison is actually his own son and now Ashland’s. A stunned Ashland will glare at Kyle as well Tara.
Meanwhile, Summer will confess to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) that postponing her marriage to Kyle somehow feels like a mistake. She’ll think it’d be easier to survive this Tara and Harrison drama if they were already married.
Summer will contemplate what it’d be like to just stand united against the world and get hitched today!
Phyllis obviously won’t like that plan and will convince Summer to stick to the postponement. After Summer explains that Tara might be staying in Genoa City for a new beginning, Phyllis will suggest they shouldn’t overreact to that news.
Phyllis will think Summer has to look inside and figure out what her instincts are telling her.
Summer will suggest that if she’s being honest, she does notice something more when she watches Tara and Kyle together. Summer will sense the connection between them and will feel like Kyle might be in denial about it.
Phyllis will seem concerned, but Summer won’t be willing to throw away the trust she’s placed in Kyle over what could be momentary insecurities.
At the coffeehouse, Sharon and Rey will be in agreement about Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) upcoming ruling. Rey and Sharon won’t think Chelsea should land behind bars, particularly due to how it’d affect Connor Newman (Judah Mackey).
Rey will eventually bring up the idea of a trip to celebrate their new chapter, so Sharon will think it’d be nice to visit Miami. She’ll note that they could go see Celeste Rosales (Eva LaRue) along with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) while she’s staying in the area.
Rey will think that sounds perfect, but they’ll agree they need plenty of alone time and should make it like a second honeymoon.
Next, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will pay Chelsea a visit to let her know the judge ruled she was not guilty by reason of insanity. Although Chelsea will have to stick around for treatment at the psychiatric facility, she won’t have to do jail time.
Chelsea will seem agitated despite the good news since she’s locked away while Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) roaming around free as usual.
In The Grand Phoenix lobby, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will join Adam and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Victor will bring Nick up to speed on the job offer he intends to make Noah Newman (Robert Adamson), though Noah won’t have high hopes about his son accepting it.
As for Nick, Victor will have big plans for him as well. He’ll pitch the idea of Adam and Nick working together through a joint venture between Newman Media and New Hope.
Adam will be on board after Victor explains that Newman Media could give New Hope some free publicity and serve as a good platform.
Nick, on the other hand, will seem suspicious and won’t commit until he gives the proposal some thought. He’ll also have to run it by Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) before any final decisions are made.
After Nick fills Phyllis in on that meeting, she’ll think Victor’s rounding up Newmans with manipulation in mind.
Back with Adam, he’ll receive a call about Chelsea’s ruling and think it’s for the best. As for Victor, he’ll stop by Chelsea’s facility to let her know where he stands.
Chelsea will be stunned as Victor tries to convince her she’s truly unwell and needs to concentrate on getting real help in there. Victor will warn that he’ll keep Chelsea locked up forever unless she puts the work in to get better.
Across town, Sally will put her plot in motion after doing some online research on the fashion house Ashland has in mind. Sally will think this job offer will be the perfect way to lure Summer out of GC.
When Summer and Sally cross paths at Society, Sally will drop a hint about an open position for a new creative director at Marketi in Lamon.
Sally will act like she’s going to take advantage of it, but Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) will deliver some info that throws her for a loop.
It turns out the Forresters are one of the main backers of Marketi, so Sally will contact “Grams” aka Shirley Spectra (Patrika Darbo) and suggest she might need a favor from The Bold and the Beautiful’s Eric Forrester (John McCook).
Finally, Michael will have a confession to make as he sits at a table on the Crimson Lights patio. He’ll tell Lauren that despite how things seem with Chelsea, the big picture is bugging him.
Michael won’t be able to shake the feeling that Victor orchestrated the whole insanity defense.
