The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Tuesday, March 2, reveals that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) bumps into Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) at Crimson Lights) and gives her a heads-up about a money-saving memo that’s headed her way.
Talk turns to Sally recently leaving work early to pick up a new car – and Lauren mentions that she found out Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) was playing hooky with her.
Sally knows her friendship with Jack must seem odd, but she thinks he’s great and feels like a “very lucky girl” to have him in her life. Lauren wonders why the friendship would be odd then, so Sally says some people might be judgmental about it.
Lauren makes it clear that Sally will get no judgment from her. She’s glad Sally and Jack are having a good time. “Who cares what anyone else thinks?” Lauren insists.
At Jabot, Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) busy trying to explain why he bailed on this mysterious New York trip. Kyle tells Jack and Summer Newman (Hunter King) it was a small, last-minute opportunity that he had second thoughts about. It’s not even worth getting into according to Kyle. “Indulge us,” Jack says.
Summer wonders when it came up and why Kyle didn’t just tell her about it. Jack gets the idea that maybe Summer and Kyle could use some privacy, so he heads out.
After a little more grilling, Summer decides she knows what Kyle was planning. She thinks Kyle wanted to go see Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) and mentions how Sally offered another hint about something Summer didn’t know.
Summer asks if Sally said something that made Kyle want to go…or if there’s something Kyle hasn’t told her. Summer adds that Sally hinted about how if the affair comes out, they’ll have to deal with everything that goes with it.
Kyle implies that Sally might be messing with Summer – and then Gloria Fisher-Bardwell (Judith Chapman) interrupts.
Gloria quickly realizes Sally is the topic of conversation and wants the scoop since she doesn’t get a good vibe from Sally. When Summer and Kyle don’t bite, Gloria says they’re no fun at all.
Summer has to take off for a meeting with Lauren, but she wants to pick this conversation back up with Kyle later.
Once Kyle’s alone, he looks at Harrison Locke’s pic on his phone. Sally appears and sees what he’s doing, so she assumes Kyle can’t bring himself to tell Summer. Sally notes that it’ll blow everything up, but Kyle suggests that whatever Sally thinks she knows – she actually doesn’t.
Sally notes that if Ashland Locke (Paul Burgi) finds out Kyle’s the one who had the affair with Tara, that’s bad enough. If Ashland learns his son belongs to Kyle, then it could be really bad for him.
Kyle lies that it’s not his kid, but he’s puzzled by why Sally didn’t end the stalemate already by spilling about Tara’s son to Summer.
Sally argues that she had no proof, but she’s equally puzzled by why Kyle’s keeping quiet if it’s not his son. Why not tell Summer and bond over dodging a bullet?
Kyle suggests he’s getting really tired of Sally’s veiled threats, but she promises she’s not going to say anything and doesn’t want to cause trouble.
The conversation turns to Sally’s friendship with Jack, so Kyle wants to know why Sally’s spending so much time with his father.
“Maybe he sees something in me that you just haven’t yet, but I’m confident that you will come around someday. At least I hope so anyway,” Sally says.
Kyle just doesn’t understand Sally. He gripes that Sally plots and schemes, then insists she wants everyone to get along! Kyle wonders if he can believe Sally when she promises she won’t tell anyone about Tara’s son.
At The Grand Phoenix, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) catches Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) snooping on Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) laptop. Phyllis tries to cover, but Nick isn’t fooled and pries an admission out of her about it being Sally’s.
Nick realizes Phyllis used her master key to sneak in Sally’s room and steal her computer. He sarcastically suggests Phyllis should put something about that in her advertisements for the hotel. “The Grand Phoenix: Where privacy is overrated,” Nick quips.
Phyllis defends her decision to snoop since Sally’s been researching Jack as well as his family. “She’s a stalker, and she has designs on Jack!” Phyllis insists. Nick thinks maybe it’s as simple as Sally likes Jack and he likes her back.
Phyllis disagrees and argues that Sally has changed her target from Kyle to Jack.
Nick feels like Phyllis should put Sally’s laptop back in her room and never do it to anyone else. Phyllis reminds Nick of how Sally fawned all over him when they first met.
She thinks Nick is lucky to have Phyllis standing in the way. “That little inexperienced witch has to go through this bigger, badder bitch to get to you!” Phyllis says,
Nick realizes Phyllis views Sally as a threat and that there’s no changing her mind. However, Nick wants Phyllis to consider the idea that maybe she gets restless without a nemesis. It’s like Phyllis is drawn to conflict. Phyllis pulls a “how dare you” and insists she’d love to be bored for a change.
Nick backs off and says he’s sorry, so Phyllis feels like he needs to trust her on this. When that “psycho man-eater manipulator” is gone from Genoa City, Phyllis feels like Nick and everyone else will thank her.
At home, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) grips her wheelchair handle and gives herself a pep talk in her head. She lifts herself up a bit until Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) passes through the living room.
Once Adam’s in the kitchen, Chelsea resumes working on her recovery. Adam returns again, so Chelsea stops and rants about knowing he kissed Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case). She wants Adam to “have some damn courage and admit it.”
Adam brings up the idea of leaving town and having no interference from anyone. They could tell Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) about Chelsea’s condition and live together as a family again.
Adam thinks it might be just what Chelsea needs to make a full recovery, so he intends to talk to Dr. Lena Cavett (Dana Sparks) about it.
Chelsea wonders to herself if Adam’s really going to see Dr. Cavett or if Sharon is waiting for him. Adam says he won’t be gone long.
“I don’t care if you ever come back. I’m going to be reunited with my son without you. And I’m going to get you out of my life once and for all,” Chelsea tells herself – and then resumes trying to gain more movement once she’s alone.
Later on Tuesday’s Young and the Restless episode, Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) stops by and wants to get to the bottom of what’s wrong. She asks if Chelsea thinks she could type out a few words on her cell phone.
At Society, Summer meets with Lauren about some business before talk turns to Phyllis. Lauren mentions the meeting Phyllis set up with her and suspects Summer knows what it’s about.
Summer hints that it’s probably about Sally and brings up Sally’s friendship with Jack. She tells Lauren to take whatever Phyllis tells her with a grain of salt.
On her way out, Summer sees Phyllis and grills her about what she’s learned by investigating Sally. Phyllis won’t tell Summer anything, so Summer just wants to know if it’s enough to send Sally packing. Since Phyllis wouldn’t go that far, Summer suggests just leaving it alone.
Afterward, Phyllis tells Lauren about everything she found on Sally’s web browser and argues that how she acquired the private info isn’t important. Lauren doesn’t think Sally’s research is unusual, but Phyllis gripes that lonely, vulnerable Jack is going to fall for Sally.
Lauren wonders if it’d really be so bad if they became friends…or more.
Phyllis insists that Summer is at risk, too. Sally already has her food in the door at Fenmore’s and is climbing that ladder. “Who knows how high her ambitions go or what this girl will do to achieve them?” Phyllis says.
At Crimson Lights, Sharon watches Adam meet with Dr. Cavett. On the patio, Adam tells Dr. Cavett that he was thinking that a fresh setting and time with Connor would help Chelsea.
Dr. Cavett wants Adam to consider it from Connor’s perspective. It could be stressful for Connor to see his mother like that.
Plus, coping with travel on top of everything else might be asking too much for Chelsea. It’s just too soon. Dr. Cavett suggests revisiting the idea once Chelsea shows signs of progress.
Adam counters that perhaps Chelsea can only show signs of progress by leaving. Nevertheless, Dr. Cavett insists it’s risky and could lead to a setback. She recommends giving it a few more weeks.
After the meeting wraps up, Adam crosses paths with Sharon. Things are a little tense as Sharon asks how Chelsea is. Although Sharon isn’t part of Chelsea’s treatment plan anymore, she assures Adam that she still cares.
Adam updates Sharon on how he wanted to leave town with Chelsea, but Dr. Cavett wants him to table the idea for now.
Adam was thinking it’d be best to put some serious distance between them and argues that it’d line up with what Sharon wants, too. However, it’s just not possible right now.
Back at Jabot, Sally promises Kyle she’ll keep the news about Tara’s son to herself unless her hand is forced. Sally also says she’ll stop with all the hints – though she’ll leave Kyle with some advice.
Sally feels like if Kyle does find out somehow that he fathered Tara’s child, he should sit with that reality for a minute and then forget about Ashland, Tara and everything else.
Sally argues that it’s probably too late to come clean with Summer – and Ashland will come after Kyle if this info makes it back to him.
“Thanks, that was super helpful,” Kyle says sarcastically. He insists he’s not worried because the kid isn’t his and leaves his phone in the boardroom as he exits.
Back at the penthouse, Chelsea types Sharon on the phone followed by Adam. “Adam and Sharon together?!” Chloe says as she finally gets it. When Adam comes in, he says it looks like he’s interrupted something intense.
Chloe laughs it off, but she insists their girl time isn’t done yet. Adam seems a bit on edge as he goes upstairs.
When Nick runs into Jack at the coffeehouse, they talk about how Phyllis gets when she zeros in on a new mission. Nick confesses that Phyllis’ new mission concerns Jack this time.
Jack realizes this is about his interest in Sally and warns that Phyllis needs a new hobby! He tells Nick to pass along the message that there’s no need to worry about him.
Summer returns to Jabot, where she finds Gloria. In Tuesday’s Y&R episode, Gloria says she saw Kyle by the elevator earlier and adds that he seemed very out of sorts.
Summer tries to call Kyle’s phone and sees that it’s still in the boardroom. “Lucky you found it and not somebody else,” Gloria says. Summer looks tempted to snoop as she holds the phone in her hands.
