The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Wednesday, March 3, teases that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) seems deep in thought when Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) appears at the Abbott mansion. Traci can tell Kyle has something serious on his mind.
In the Jabot boardroom on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Summer Newman (Hunter King) tries punching in the password on Kyle’s phone. Summer’s perplexed when she realizes Kyle changed it since it’s always been his mom’s birthday.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) walks in and startles Summer before he asks if she’s seen Kyle’s phone.
Summer admits she has it before Jack praises her for the deal she worked out with Spencer Publications. Jack’s also glad Summer took his advice about not letting “minor irritants” get in the way.
Summer guesses he means one with red hair and a big mouth. She doesn’t see the tension with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) going away anytime soon.
Jack begs Summer to tell him that she’s not at odds with Sally again. Summer wonders why it matters so much and pushes Jack to tell her what’s going on between the two of them. Jack gripes about people suddenly being so interested in his personal life.
Summer just feels like they’re an “interesting pair,” so Jack presumes that Summer means mismatched. Jack argues that all Summer or anyone else needs to know is that they enjoy each other’s company.
After Summer leaves, Jack gets a text from Sally asking where he is. Sally has a surprise for Jack that she thinks he’s really going to like.
At Crimson Lights, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) admits he’s been keeping a check on the phone he confiscated from Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind). There haven’t been any new messages. Faith hopes maybe her bullies got bored and moved on.
Nick admits they also caught the girl who posted the photo of Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) kissing Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) did some checking and realized there was a bus boy with a girlfriend at Walnut Grove, so that helped connect the dots.
The dean was told and the girl confessed after she was confronted.
Nick admits the girl’s probably going to be suspended, but he won’t reveal who she was to Faith. The important thing is that the situation is being taken very seriously. Faith says it was bad enough when kids were picking on her, but they went too far dragging Sharon into it.
Faith talks about how “totally gross” it was that Sharon kissed Adam, but she doesn’t think Sharon deserved to be publicly shamed for her mistake. She worries about Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) not being able to forgive Sharon because those bullies were dunking on her.
Nick feels confident both Sharon and Rey want to work this out, but Faith isn’t so sure Adam will let them. She feels like Adam is a bully in his own way. Talk turns to how Nick wants Faith to trust in her support system, but Faith wonders if Nick will ever trust her again.
At the cottage, Sharon still isn’t thrilled about the idea of seeing a marriage counselor. However, Rey feels like they’ll lose each other if they don’t tackle their Adam issues head-on. After Rey leaves for the station, Faith has a long talk with Nick and Sharon about how she didn’t want to turn to them for help.
Faith adds that she leaned on Jordan (Madison Thompson) and argues that Jordan isn’t a bad person. After insisting that Jordan did help with the mean girls sometimes, she acknowledges that Jordan also goaded her into some bad decisions.
Sharon’s impressed by Faith’s new perspective, so Faith admits she’s been playing back some of the things that happened in her head. Sharon says that’s an excellent description of counseling – like watching a film with a critic to point things out.
Faith admits it freaked her out when they first brought up therapy. She thought there was something wrong with her, but Sharon and Nick promise they think Faith is perfect. Faith gets choked up as she apologizes for pushing Nick and Sharon away.
Faith goes over the bullying drama again and has decided to give up the names of those behind it. She’s hoping that they’ll back off if they’re held accountable. Later, Sharon wants to talk to Faith about the photo of the kiss with Adam.
Faith admits it wouldn’t be fair to let Adam take all the blame for what happened.
Faith just doesn’t understand how Sharon can be around Adam, let alone kiss him. Sharon confesses one of the reasons is Adam saved Faith’s life once. “Wait, what?” a confused Faith says.
Sharon says there was a tornado and that Adam threw himself on top of Faith in a barn to protect her. Adam was also the one who got Sharon psychiatric help for her bipolar disorder when it was undiagnosed and untreated.
Sharon knows she needs to set firmer boundaries, but she wants Faith to understand that things aren’t always so black and white. Although Sharon knows she’s still a work in progress, she promises things are going to get better.
Afterward, Sharon calls Rey and offers updates on her chat with Faith. Sharon also assures Rey she’s willing to try counseling.
Faith’s alone in the living room when she gets a mysterious text on her new phone that says, “I hope they all pay for the way they hurt you.” Faith texts back to find out who this is and how he or she got her number.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) continues working on her recovery in private. Chelsea uses her hands to wheel herself in her wheelchair a bit, but she stops when Adam calls out.
Adam comes in the room and delivers disappointing news from Dr. Lena Cavett (Dana Sparks). Adam insists it’s too soon for Chelsea to leave town, but he feels it’ll give them something to work toward.
Chelsea scoffs in her head about Adam never really wanting to leave. She feels certain he wants to stay near Sharon. Adam mentions that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) wants to see him and notes that his dad seems to be the only one interested in how they’re doing.
“That’s how he sucks you in! Why do you fall for the same old tricks?” Chelsea wonders in her head. She feels like Sharon and Victor are Adam’s two weaknesses. Chelsea tells herself that there’s nothing she can do about it…yet.
Once Adam leaves to meet with Victor, Chelsea wheels herself in her wheelchair again and smiles ever so slightly.
Back at the Abbott mansion, Kyle admits he was thinking about how grateful he is to have his dad. Traci knows the feeling is mutual for Jack, but Kyle brings up how Jack didn’t have a say in the beginning.
Jack didn’t even know he had a son at first. Kyle’s mom took him to Europe when he was three, so he missed out on a lot of time with his father.
Kyle wonders if his dad hadn’t welcomed him as an Abbott – if he hadn’t grown up knowing he was a solid part of this family – who would Kyle even be today? Traci can’t imagine any scenario where Jack would’ve rejected his own little boy.
As soon as Jack found out Kyle was his son, Jack was committed and all in.
Traci notes that Kyle became part of the legacy – always and forever. Kyle tells Traci that he was thinking about how every kid should have a dad like his.
At Society, Victor insists Adam’s got a lot of time on his hands. With Adam’s brain, he needs something to occupy himself. Victor talked to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) about a large media company – and calls it a “foolish move” for Victoria to get rid of the media division last year.
Now Victor has decided to buy this new media company and needs someone to run the day-to-day operations. Victor wonders if that piques Adam’s interest. Adam realizes Victor still wants to get back at Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) for publishing that sleazy article.
Victor explains the details and assures Adam that he’ll report to his father, not Victoria. Victor will give Adam all the freedom to run the company as he sees fit. Adam insists that as soon as Chelsea’s well enough to travel, they still intend to leave town.
Victor feels that will take a long time – and until then, Adam can run the company remotely. Adam admits that does make the job sound more appealing, so he’ll give it some thought and let Victor know.
At the Grand Phoenix, Summer swears Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) to secrecy before revealing that Kyle seems to be hiding something. She wonders if Phyllis could help crack Kyle’s phone password.
Phyllis says it’s technically possible, but she wouldn’t recommend it. This would be a huge violation of Kyle’s privacy and he’d inevitably find out.
Phyllis argues that Summer would be risking her relationship and wonders if this is about Lola. Summer says it’s about another ex from years ago, but she doesn’t want to go into details.
Phyllis doesn’t get why people shouldn’t know and wonders if this woman is crazy or married. Summer says she doesn’t even know if she’s getting the whole story.
Phyllis realizes this must’ve happened in New York, which means Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) is in the loop.
Summer confirms that Theo told Sally, who’s been holding this over Kyle’s head ever since she found out. She reveals that Sally’s using this dirt as insurance to keep her LA secrets under wraps.
Summer talks about who this woman is married to – a vindictive power player who can destroy lives. She fills Phyllis in on Sally’s hints about something Summer doesn’t know.
Summer’s also concerned about the canceled trip to New York, so Phyllis starts to understand why Summer needs to get into Kyle’s phone.
That said, Phyllis can’t do it since she still thinks it’s a bad idea. She feels like Summer needs to trust her instinct. Just go to Kyle and demand that he be honest. If that doesn’t work, then they don’t really have a relationship.
At Jabot again, Kyle catches up with Jack and learns Summer has his phone. Jack can tell Kyle’s on edge over Summer getting her hands on it – and he brings up the secretive New York trip that Kyle backed out of. Jack’s trying to grill Kyle when Summer arrives and gives him his phone back.
Kyle takes a call from Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), who says she’s coming to Genoa City with Ashland Locke (Paul Burgi) on business next week. Tara warns that if Kyle runs into them, he shouldn’t mention the past. Tara feels nothing good can come from it – for any of them, including Harrison Locke.
Kyle lies that it was nothing important after he hangs up. He also asks Jack to give him some time alone with Summer, who says things have been off between them. Instead of lashing out or spying, Summer just wants to ask Kyle to respect her enough to be honest. “OK, I will,” Kyle insists.
Summer was hoping Kyle would reassure her this wasn’t a big deal. Kyle wishes he could, but he can’t. He admits that nine months after his relationship with Tara ended, she had a child. Kyle confirms the child is his.
Back at the penthouse on Wednesday’s Young and the Restless episode, Chelsea dreams that Adam has returned home. Adam marvels over Chelsea standing in the living room before she points a gun at him and fires a shot. Chelsea awakens breathing heavily with her finger pointed like it’s a weapon.
