The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) could have a rushed wedding coming up. This new bride may want to marry her dying groom before it’s too late! There have been several hints about a speedy engagement and some possible new nuptials for Ashland.
When Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) found out about Ashland and Victoria’s big announcement, he cracked a joke to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) that seemed telling.
On the July 13 episode, Billy suggested he just hoped Victoria and Ashland weren’t sending out wedding invitations.
Y&R followed up on that in the July 14 episode with a couple more wedding-related comments. This time it was Lily’s turn to suggest Victoria and Ashland might be getting married.
Billy was quick to point out that he was joking before, but Lily kept the engagement theme going following the livestream announcement.
After hearing the somber confirmation on Ashland’s illness, Lily pointed out she would’ve preferred a marriage proposal.
What’s with all the wedding talk? There’s surely a reason the writers keep pushing this angle for Victoria and Ashland.
Since Ashland supposedly has less than six months to live, it’d be reasonable for him to remarry before he dies.
Ashland seems to have developed a real connection with Victoria – one that far surpasses anything he ever had with Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner).
It’d be easy for Ashland to rush the process of finalizing this divorce along and wiggle out of any necessary waiting period. A man like Ashland’s got plenty of money and powerful connections to make that happen.
Victoria is falling hard and might even be the one to push for a fast marriage. Maybe Victoria could argue that she wants to marry the man of her dreams before all this goes away.
Naturally, things could get complicated if Ashland is faking his terminal condition.
Ashland may not be dying at all based on some of the clues the show’s offered, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Regardless, there are too many marriage hints to ignore as well. Could Ashland and Victoria find themselves poised to tie the knot soon?
