The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle) could face Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) death by Christmas. Is holiday heartbreak looming for Ashland’s new wife?
Y&R has taken some pretty strange twists and turns when it comes to this couple. They set Ashland up as a villain – only to excuse away all his behavior and make it seem like Victoria’s love changed him at his core.
Of course, that seemingly means Ashland’s terminal illness is legit, which also means Ashland is going to die sooner rather than later.
There’s just no way around that if the writers aren’t going to include any kind of scheme to explain away the diagnosis.
Ashland’s treatment could prolong his life a bit, but there are no guarantees. We’ve seen Ashland getting worse right before our eyes since he’s having more coughing fits, weak spells and breathing struggles.
Ashland’s small-cell lung carcinoma is now what poses the biggest threat to his happiness with Victoria.
Sadly, The Young and the Restless buzz points to Ashland potentially being killed off by the time the holidays roll around. Victoria may find herself waiting for a Christmas miracle that never comes.
It makes sense for Victoria and Ashland to spend the next couple months growing even closer as Ashland marches toward his inevitable doom.
There’s no point in dragging this out any longer than that, so Christmas seems about right in terms of Ashland’s expiration date.
Ashland first revealed his lung cancer diagnosis in June and explained that he had six months to live, so wrapping this story up by the end of the year seems likely.
Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) admitted Ashland’s treatment isn’t realistically going to change much of anything, so it’s time to prepare for Ashland’s somber demise.
Victoria will try to make the most of every moment with her new husband, but her world is still going to fall apart once it’s time to say a crushing goodbye.
