The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Wednesday, August 18 Recap – Ashland’s Tough Goodbye – Gloria Steals Sally’s Job

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 18, teases that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will say a tough goodbye while Gloria Fisher-Bardwell (Judith Chapman) steals Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) old job. Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will also suspect Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) in the case of missing Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), so let’s discuss Tuesday’s sizzling Y&R drama.

At the Abbott house, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will gush about the fun flight and the adventure Harrison’s about to go on. Harrison will expect his mommy to be in Italy, so Jack will admit she won’t be.

However, Jack will point out Daddy Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is going to be there along with Summer Newman (Hunter King), who found a gelato place to visit.

At Newman Media, Adam will be upset with Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) for copying Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) on a memo when she’s not an official staff member yet.

Chloe will bring up Adam hitting it off with Sally earlier, so Adam will note that Sally’s smart and he likes her.

When Adam brings up Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) not being a fan of Sally, Chloe will think that sounds like a badge of honor.

Meanwhile, Sally will grumble about the security as she rushes up to the front desk of The Grand Phoenix. She’ll report a robbery, but she’ll soon learn that Phyllis had all Sally’s things packed up and brought down in her suitcases.

“I’m throwing you out on your California butt,” Phyllis will insist. She’ll advise Sally to use the final five minutes on her key card to make sure the staff didn’t leave anything behind.

Jack will notice Sally looking agitated as she boards the elevator, so he’ll ask Phyllis if there’s a problem. Phyllis will declare that there’s not one anymore, but Sally will return to complain about her rival not being suited for the hospitality business.

Jack will wonder if Sally can really blame Phyllis under the circumstances, but Sally will fire back that she can and she does!

After Jack points out how Sally’s greed cost Summer and Kyle, she’ll wonder what exactly she cost them. Sally will feel like Jack thinks he’s being calm and forgiving when he’s actually being cruel.

Sally will also blame Phyllis for being jealous and wanting to control them, but she’ll be truly sorry things didn’t work out in her romance with Jack.

Once Sally leaves, Phyllis will get another pep talk about Summer taking advantage of this opportunity in Milan. Jack will talk about hoping for a bunch of grandchildren – the more, the better.

Phyllis will mention something she wants Jack to deliver when he goes to Italy, but she’ll need to drop it by later since it won’t be ready yet.

Jack will be glad to make this delivery and will reiterate how he owes Phyllis big time for stopping his major mistake with Sally. Afterward, Jack will find Ashland playing with Harrison on the sofa at the Abbott house.

Ashland will note that Mrs. Martinez let him in and will seem a bit emotional as he gushes about how much Harrison’s going to love this adventure.

Jack will sense that Ashland’s getting a bit too choked up to talk to Harrison, so he’ll send the boy off to get his backpack. When Jack asks if Ashland is OK, Ashland will admit he isn’t – though he’ll know this is how it has to be.

Jack will urge Ashland to take a little longer to say goodbye, so Ashland will think Jack’s suggesting this could be his final farewell if the treatment fails.

However, Jack will insist he firmly believes Ashland will see Harrison again. He’ll talk about admiring Ashland’s approach to dealing with all this and will be on the same page about doing what’s best for Harrison.

Next, Phyllis will stop by with a present for Summer: a framed photo of Phyllis holding her daughter as a baby. Jack will talk about Summer being so tiny and beautiful – and he’ll add that Phyllis looked beautiful, too.

After Jack insists Summer has a bright future with the love of her life, he’ll note that it’s something to never take for granted. Phyllis will seem rather thoughtful over that comment.

At Crimson Lights, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will confirm to Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) that Ian Ward (Ray Wise) is still locked up, so they’ll speculate on other kidnapper possibilities.

Michael will suggest that Mariah’s snatching could be related to Chance Chancellor (last played by Donny Boaz) – or perhaps someone had an ax to grind with Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case).

Rey will think one person comes to mind and will make his way to Adam’s office. Adam will be surprised to learn this is about Mariah and not Chelsea. He’ll suggest it’s been a while since he had contact with Mariah, who’s barely even on Adam’s radar.

Rey will point out that Mariah’s been gone for far longer than expected, so Adam will realize Rey’s instinct was to blame him when someone went missing.

After Rey pipes up that he never said Mariah was missing, he’ll push Adam to answer the question of when he last talked to Mariah.

“I think it was right after I donated a kidney to Faith,” Adam will snap. He’ll wonder if Rey wants to search the office, but Rey will argue that Adam’s overreaction isn’t helping.

Rey will add that Adam could at least pretend to care since this is Sharon’s daughter they’re talking about, but Adam still won’t get the logic of questioning him.

Rey will act like he’s just covering his bases, but Adam will think that he’s grasping at straws and still trying to pin anything on him. Detective Rosales will think that the odds are in his favor that he’ll be able to do that one day!

After Chloe and Sally walk in on Adam’s conversation with Rey, Adam will send them out. While Sally heads to Crimson Lights with Chloe, Gloria will tell Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) they should order Champagne at Society.

Gloria will announce this is her last day as Lauren’s assistant and will promote herself right into Sally’s old position running JCV.

Michael will join the conversation and suggest that Gloria can’t be serious. Lauren will imply that Gloria’s a bit old for the demographic, but Gloria will think she can learn.

Gloria will gush over her experience and suggest that Lauren could do worse – in fact, she already has by hiring Sally!

Gloria will suggest Lauren should give her some time to show what she can do. She’ll note that Lauren just might be surprised.

Once she’s alone with Michael, Lauren will realize Gloria’s just accepted a job that wasn’t offered to her once again.

Back with Sally, she’ll fill Chloe in on why she was dragging her luggage into work earlier.

Sally will explain that she had to leave her previous residence in a hurry, but she’ll assure Chloe that she’s not planning to leave town.

Gloria will saunter in eventually and try to butter Sally up about her “freakish talent of knowing what young people want.”

Sally will think it helps to be one of the young people, but Gloria will obviously be fishing for tips on the younger demographic. Once Gloria’s gone, Chloe will point out that she must have some agenda.

At the office again, Sally will explain to Adam about getting thrown out The Grand Phoenix.

Sally will promise her suitcases will be gone by the end of the day. Chloe will also find out about Rey questioning Adam regarding Mariah’s disappearance and seem a bit unsettled as she leaves.

Finally, Adam will send Sharon a text to let her know he heard about Mariah through Rey. He’ll tell Sharon that if there’s anything he can do to help, just let him know.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mariah’s vanishing act will bring some big twists in the coming episodes, so stay tuned.
