The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Wednesday, September 1 Recap – Ashland’s Suspicious Money – Sally Blasts Jack, Accepts Adam’s Offer

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, September 1, reveals that there’ll be another mystery surrounding Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) suspicious money in his younger days. Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will also blast Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) before accepting Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) offer, so here’s what Y&R fans can look forward to.

At the ranch, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will insist that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) needs to assume a more public role since he’s Newman Media’s CEO. Adam will decide to take another speaking section at the launch party as a result.

Soon after, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will show up and push to speak with Victor about a private matter.

Victor will be adamant that Nick should have no communication with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), but Nick will think it’d be better to keep the lines of communication open in case Billy finds the skeletons in Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) closet.

At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will make party preparations before Billy arrives looking for a drink.

Talk will turn to the upcoming bash, so Phyllis will be curious why Billy’s attending and what he’s up to.

Billy will eventually quiz Phyllis about Ashland, so Phyllis will call him “multi-faceted” and suggest he has some dark qualities that aren’t great for a stepdad.

However, Phyllis will point out that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) loves a dark streak in a man. She won’t think Victoria’s going to care about anything Billy dredges up from the past unless it’s something truly terrible.

Phyllis will feel like Billy is the one who’ll get hurt by doing a background check since Victoria will inevitably come after him.

Billy will admit Phyllis isn’t the first person to warn him of that.

At home, Victoria will assure Ashland that she’s fine with skipping the Newman Media launch party. She’ll note that she wasn’t looking forward to watching Victor and Adam pass themselves on the back anyway.

Victoria will confess that she’d really like to see Adam and Victor fall flat on their faces.

The conversation will shift to the possibility of Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) finding published articles long after Ashland’s gone.

Ashland will hate that he won’t be around to defend himself, but Victoria will insist she’s happy to pass along anything he wants Harrison to know.

Victoria will mention the story of the older woman who served as Ashland’s mentor and wonder about any other secrets he might be keeping.

Ashland will argue that wasn’t really a secret and will add that he’d be glad to address any questions or concerns Victoria might have.

When Ashland suddenly grunts in pain and announces that he needs to rest, Victoria will dash off to get him some soup from Society. That’ll leave Ashland to sit alone looking pensive.

At Crimson Lights, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will run into Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and give him the heads-up on attending the Newman Media launch bash as a new employee.

Jack will wonder just how fragile Sally thinks he was, but she’ll suggest she didn’t want Jack thinking she had ulterior motives.

Jack will argue that the thought didn’t cross his mind, but he’ll act like it wouldn’t matter even if Sally did have ulterior motives.

Things will be tense, so Sally will simply say “OK then” before walking away looking glum.

After getting her coffee, Sally will find her usual nerve again and confront Jack about going out of his way to be deliberately hurtful.

Sally will rant about it being beneath Jack, but he’ll seem annoyed and ask if she’s finished.

Sally will decide she’s indeed finished playing this game that she can’t win. She’ll insist she is who she is and won’t want any more lectures or pitying looks from Jack.

Sally will think it feels good to make a fresh start with people who accept her and are rooting for her.

“So you can think whatever you want of me; I really don’t give a damn anymore,” Sally will snap before storming out on the patio.

Later, Sally will call Adam and insist she’d love to be his date for the party.

At Society, Victoria will find Nick drinking at the bar and mention her issues with Victor’s investigation into Ashland’s past.

Nick will point out that Victor’s coming from a place of love and will understand his motives somewhat. Victoria will be upset over Victor’s lack of faith in her judgment, but Nick won’t think that’s what this is about.

After Nick brings up the older woman who died when Ashland was in his 20s, he’ll point out that no one knows where Ashland got the money to buy the two news stations.

Victoria won’t think that matters until Nick’s implication is that Ashland robbed a bank.

They’ll discuss Ashland’s rough chemo briefly before Victoria mentions that she won’t be attending the Newman Media soiree this evening.

Once Victoria returns home, she’ll once again assure Ashland that it’s fine if they don’t go to the launch party.

Victoria will offer a relaxing backrub, so Ashland won’t think he deserves her – though Victoria will insist she should be the judge of that.

At ChancComm, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) will be interested in the Ask MD Now gig, but she’ll want an emphasis on preventative care and maintaining health instead of just treating symptoms.

Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) was intrigued by all Elena’s ideas and thought they could accomplish great things together.

Once Lily joins Billy and the other party guests at The Grand Phoenix, she’ll grow frustrated. Lily will assume that Billy’s going to be focused on Victoria and Ashland all night.

Since Nick will be standing nearby, he’ll point out that Victoria isn’t going to be there. Nick won’t think there’s any reason for Billy to stay if Victoria was his only reason for coming.

As for Jack and Phyllis, they’ll have a conversation about Billy borrowing trouble with all the Newman drama.

When Adam walks in with Sally on his arm, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will glare in the duo’s direction and ask if Victor knew he’d be bringing her. Victor will clearly be just as taken aback – and Jack will seem unsettled over Adam’s date as well.

Sally will mention to Adam that everyone’s staring, but he’ll insist that’s good since it’s a Newman Media party and all eyes should be on the company’s employees.

After Adam gets them some drinks, Sally will smile and plan to enjoy herself at this event. Adam and Sally will clink their glasses as they agree this is going to be fun, but all the other irritated guests won’t seem to think so!

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sally and Adam will continue to make waves, so stay tuned.
