The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will soon get some truly awful news. As Y&R viewers know, Abby and Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) have been anxious to start a family right away, but the process hasn’t gone smoothly, which led Abby to make a doctor’s appointment to make sure that everything was ok.
Well, during the week of January 18-22, Abby and Chance will get the news they just don’t want to hear – Abby will have too much uterine scarring from her miscarriage to be able to carry a baby in the future.
Abby will be understandably devastated, and that’s surely going to lead her and Chance to explore other options.
Interestingly, Abby’s doctor will relay that Abby’s ovaries are still in good working form, which would seem to mean that Abby and Chance could still have a baby of their own if the embryo were implanted in someone else – a surrogate.
We suspect that Abby and Chance will soon be on a search for a surrogate to carry their child to term, and they may not have very far to look.
It was just recently that Abby got some help from her friends while she was fretting about her inability to conceive.
As Y&R viewers will remember, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), and Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) descended on Abby and helped cheer up their friend – something that Abby very much appreciated.
Well, how long until Abby realizes that any of those three women – Mariah, Tessa, or Lola – would be suitable surrogates for carrying a baby for her?
Might Abby round up her friends and explain her situation to see if one of them might step forward and offer to help her and Chance become parents?
Of course, there would be some complications all the way around. For Mariah, she’s just started a lucrative position at Jabot as head of marketing, so the timing could be off for her.
And Tessa has her singing career to think about – it would be tough to go out on tour at a moment’s notice when she’s seven months pregnant, for example!
And then there’s Lola, who’s got the restaurant to run but who is unattached to any significant other right now. Still, it would probably be difficult for Lola to juggle her duties at Society with being pregnant at the same time.
One thing’s for sure – whoever does decide to be Abby’s surrogate will need to make a big commitment and some sacrifices.
It will be interesting to see where this storyline is headed, and we strongly suspect that someone among Abby’s group of friends may end up being her surrogate. Who do you think it will be?
