Unexpected Recap 01/31/21: Season 4 Episode 7 “The Circumcision Conversation”

Tonight on TLC their reality show looking at teenage pregnancy and parenthood UNEXPECTED airs with an all-new Sunday, January 31, 2021 episode and we have your Unexpected recap below.  On tonight’s Unexpected season 4 episode 7 called, “The Circumcision Conversation,” as per the TLC synopsis, “Reanna gives birth during a pandemic. Jenna and Aden fight over the baby shower.

Tyra has a little too much fun on her cheerleading trip in Miami, Florida. A debate over circumcision makes Lilly and Lawrence’s family dinner awkward.

At Jessica’s house, today is c-section day. Reanna has to have a c-section because she is not able to medically have a natural birth. Because of COVID, they are not planning any c-sections, but because of Reanna’s situation, they are going to make an exception. And, because of the pandemic, Tarron is not allowed to be there. On the way to the hospital, Reanna is soothed that her mother is going to be there but she is still nervous. Reanna and Tarron’s relationship has been up and down and it sucks that he can’t be there with her when she has the baby. As they get closer to the hospital, Reanna gets more nervous. Her mother tells her it is better than having contractions.

Lilly and Lawrence are in the car, they are 18 years old and Lilly is a 2 ½-year-old from a previous relationship. Today, they are going to get an ultrasound, and Lilly is excited that he will get to see what a 3D ultrasound. Her previous partner was not supportive, but Lawrence is. Lilly is scared to do the whole labour and delivery thing again. She thinks she can handle the contractions, but she thinks your body forgets how painful they are so you have more babies. When Lawrence found out that Lilly was pregnant, he was kind of sad, he his life is over, he can’t go out or anything. Now he is actually excited, he never grew up with a mom and dad, his father died when he was six and he wants to give his son what he didn’t have. Lawrence is so happy he is having a son and can’t wait to get his son into sports, especially MMA. Lilly loves how involved Lawrence is with this pregnancy. He says he couldn’t call himself a man if he wasn’t involved.

Myrka is 16 and 37 weeks pregnant, she wakes up and finds out that there are no birthing classes because of COVID, so they are going to have to do this on their own. COVID changed her birth plan completely and Ethan is going to see if he can find Lamaze classes online. She is only allowed one person in the room when she gives birth, she has chosen Ethan. The two think they are prepared, but Myrka’s mother doesn’t think they know what they have gotten themselves into. Myrka is so ready not to pregnant anymore, she is so big and everything hurts, she is done. Myrka loves Ethan, but she doesn’t think he is ready to have a baby. He knows he has to grow up and step up.

Reanna and Jessica are at the hospital, it is one hour to the ultrasound. Jessica feels horrible for Taron that he can’t be there. Taron thinks it is not fair, if the dad wants to be there, he should be permitted. Jessica is worried about COVID, the hospital is the most dangerous place to be right now and they have no choice. Reanna had her IV medication, she is getting some pain and her mother finds it is sad to see her experience this at such a young age. Jessica was sixteen when she got pregnant, and she knows what Reanna is going through.

Reanna is more worried about the epidural, Jessica assures her that contractions are more painful.

Jenna and Aden are talking about the baby shower, her dad Matt and Kathy wanted to have one for her and her mother Heather another one. Jenna convinced them that one shower was enough, but they are still arguing about it. Jenna says they have a group chat and she knows that they are not communicating. Matt and Heather start fighting over sandwiches, they are both trying to be in control. Aden says nine times out of ten, when there is a problem, it is Heather’s fault. Jenna tells him that he acts like her mom is to blame for everything.

At Kim and Glen’s house, Lilly and Lawrence are over for lunch. Sandy is there as well, with her boyfriend. Lilly and Sandy are close and Lilly says she is fun to be around, she always has good advice and she is great. Sandy really likes Lilly and is thrilled that she is having a baby. Lilly tells Sandy she is going to have a natural birth, with her other pregnancy she had an epidural and she was left with back pain. Next, Kim mentions circumcision and Lilly doesn’t want to do it because it will hurt him. Lilly thinks it is modern-day mutilation and she can’t imagine putting her baby through that. Lawrence says that he feels this should be the dad’s decision, she is not a man. Lawrence knows they are going to head-butt on parenting.

It is almost time for Reanna’s c-section, it doesn’t take long for Danica Maria Ward to come into the world, weighing 6 pounds, 4 oz, and 18 inches long. The c-section went very well, it took all of ten minutes. Reanna says the love she feels right now for Dani, she can’t put into words. She still feels nauseous and sore, but she is happy her mom is there to make it easier for her. Jessica is super excited that Dani is there and she has every bit of faith that Reanna will do what she has to as a mom.

At Charlie and Michelle’s house, Myrka is having contracts and she is worried, so many things can go wrong. Michelle got Myrka to download a contraction timer on her phone to watch the timing of her contractions. Two hours later, Myrka tells Michelle that her contractions are three minutes apart and thinks she has to go to the hospital. Myrka wishes she had her mom’s support, but Liliana’s support has been on and off throughout the pregnancy. Myrka calls her to tell her she is going to the hospital, her mother says don’t think for one minute that she is excited about the baby.
