On tonight’s You, Me & My Ex season 1 episode 3 called, “Ex-plain Yourself,” as per the TLC synopsis, “On a family ski trip with Kayee and Jessica, Jerry is forced to pick sides. Jennifer and her wife decide Jennifer’s ex-husband should be the sperm donor for their baby. Alex shocks his sister with news that he wants to take the next step with Caroline.”

The episode begins with it being a week since Kayee has moved in with her boyfriend and his ex-wife and kids. It’s also been tense. It was clear from early on that Jessica resented Kayee’s presence and that she didn’t want to get along with her or even for the matter to accept she and Jerry were over. Jessica tends to act like she’s still married to Jerry. She makes breakfast for the family and it includes everyone but Kayee. She’s the only one left out. Jessica also found new things to complain about and the latest reason why she doesn’t like Kayee is that Kayee is too loud. The family went cross-skiing. Kayee had never done it before and she let out squeals of excitement when she going down the hill and that was apparently too much for Jessica who thought Kayee was an attention-seeker.
Kayee tried to ignore Jessica. She had fun and she had fun with the kids. They went sliding down the mountain hill and it was great. Right up until Jessica mentioned family trip for the hundredth time. Jessica said that as a way to make Kayee feel like an outsider and eventually it got to her. Kayee is human. She’s going to get upset when someone keeps baiting her. Jessica should have been thinking about the kids and what was best for them and yet she couldn’t move past the part that Jerry met someone else. She kept lashing out at Kayee. It ruined the ski trip for Kayee. She went back to the house upset. She didn’t tell Jerry why she was upset. She was just silent the whole ride and she didn’t say anything until they were back at the house.
Kayee waited to confront Jessica until they were at the house. Also, where the kids couldn’t hear. Kayee was finally asking Jessica what the problem is like April and her best friend Loren were creeping out of April’s husband John. John used to be married to Loren. He cheated on her with April and in the beginning, the two women hated each other. Loren even once tried to run April off the road with her car. Now, the two women are best friends. They run a blog in which they talk about co-parenting and they took a picture for this blog. They went into a bathtub completely naked and that what John walked in on. John thought it was weird that they were best friends. He thought it was odd how close they were.
Only they weren’t as close as Jennifer, Chantal, Josh, and Danielle. Josh and Jennifer used to be married. They had a son together when they broke up because Jennifer met her future wife Chantal. Josh ended up meeting someone too. He’s married to his wife Danielle and the four co-parent really well. There was even the possibility of bringing another child into the picture. Chantal doesn’t have kids and so she wants to get pregnant and she and her wife chose Josh to be their donor. They’ve been trying to get pregnant for a few months now. It’s not working. They might have to consider more methods to getting pregnant and there’s also the question that Josh’s sperm might not be up to it. He has two kids now and they were both kids instead of the toddler and so maybe his sperm lost its potency.
