9-1-1: Lonestar begins tonight with a bunch of children having a snowball fight and one child wants to go outside but his mother insists that he stays inside because he has asthma. He pauses, takes his inhaler and plays video games but the snow and sounds from outside keep distracting him. Suddenly the power goes out and all he can see is the children outside, he grabs his skates and hockey stick to meet with them but he’s too late, they are going in and he goes to play on the pond anyways. He begins to grasp for air as he forgot his inhaler inside. He falls through the ice, being trapper after a coughing fit.

Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) carries in a man he found unconscious in the snow. Sadie (Julie Benz) walks in, spotting the blood. Owen barks orders to grab supplies as Sadie holds him down and Owen carterizes his stab wounds with a fire poker. Owen learns that Sadie doesn’t have a phoneline but she insists she has the next best thing.

Meanwhile, the news reports they are having “once in a century” kind of snowstorm in Texas; showing several accidents but there is nowhere more dire than Providence Pasture church where there is a young woman volunteer is missing and a firefighter got trapped during the rescue operation. Capt Tatum (Jack Conley) and Chief Bowman (Eric Pierpoint) are trying to form a rescue but Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack) is frustrated with their idea because it could take a couple days. Judd stops his Captain, saying he wants to be able to tell people if the girl didn’t survive that they did everything they could to save her and right now that is not true. Judd is given permission to take a team and attempt again but if he is ordered to stop, he must. Chief Tatum’s crew, 129 gets another call about powerlines being down and is excused from the scene. Mateo Chavez (Julian Works) refuses to go as he feels they are still his crew and is given permission to join Judd on the search and rescue.

A 9-1-1 call comes in about a boy who is trapped under the ice; Grace Ryder (Sierra Aylina McClain) takes the call. Carol is the one who called, saying she couldn’t make the call from her cell. She reveals her husband was the one who seen him more than 5 minutes ago and pleads for someone to come because he is going to die. Grace notices there is one ambulance unit in the area; they are upset that there are no firetrucks. TK Strand (Ronene Rubenstein), Tommy Vega (Gina Torres) and Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker) cautious approach the scene. TK attempts to calm Carol and her husband down, saying he was a firefighter in New York as Tommy says they will have to improvise with the equipment.

Sadie returns, giving Owen a ham radio; both sure they can figure out how to use it. Owen sets it up and requests emergency assistance as Sadie checks on their “patient”. Owen is able to get the message out, inadvertently revealing he is a firefighter and not an ax murderer to Sadie. They know they are on their own as all emergency personnel is out because of the storm.

Judd and Mateo continue shouting out for Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith), not even getting a thermal signature on their devices. They begin to move some debris, just as Paul is too. He tries to contact everyone, saying he found a void space but has no response. Paul surprisingly finds Lindsey Robertson (Carly Dutcher) and able to wake her up. She doesn’t think she is hurt, other than some scrapes and bruises. He informs her that she is the “lady of the hour” and the reason his team came in. She can’t believe that anyone noticed she was missing; Paul attempts to get through to his team again, feeling his radio may have gotten busted in the collapse so he shouts for anyone. Lindsey asks to see the radio and assure shim she can fix it.

TK is secured with several sheets from the ambulance, finds the kid and breaks through the ice with a small ice pick. He is able to pull the child out from the water, but the weight becomes to heavy on the ice before he can pull him completely out and both are now under water. He resurfaces and Tommy and Nancy are able to pull them to shore but when they approach the rig, it has slid on the sleet and is now partially buried under a tree. They learn Carol’s heater works as Nancy calls for backup.

Judd speaks to his wife, Grace who is able to find the blue prints of the church and starts giving them ways to find air pockets, but they are interrupted by Paul’s radio. They learn he is stuck in the lockerroom. Paul hugs Lindsey saying she saved the day but she feels they are trapped there because of her. When the roof was collapsing she froze and feels she always chokes under pressure and now because of her, they will freeze to death. Paul comforts her, saying they will be fine but the building begins making noise and water pipes burst, spraying water all over Paul and Lindsey. Judd screams for someone to find the water main and shut it off; all the team can hear is Paul and Lindsey screaming. He is rubbing Lindsey, trying to reassure her but Mateo reminds Judd that with them being hypothermic and wet, their survival time went from hours to minutes.

Sadie tends to their patient, informing Owen that he is holding his own; complimenting Owen on his branding skills. They discuss his wound and Owen has no idea where he got the stab wound. Sadie says he is probably an illegal and its coyotes that use these grounds for smuggling them. It dawns on them that their patient could be someone who couldn’t pay and this was his consequences. Suddenly, Owen’s dog is barking and they realize their patient ran off into the storm. He asks Sadie to stay with his dog, insisting he has to try and find him in the storm.

In the back of Carol’s van, they continue to work on the young boy, attempting to revive him. Carol talks a little about the turtles they are rescuing from the cold. TK and Tommy use whatever equipment they have, using the Echmo machine which does the work of his heart and lungs, keeping the blood flowing and warming him up from the inside out. They still have no vital signs as carol frets that he is too young. TK pleads with him and they finally have a pulse. He finally begins to stir and coughs out the water as Carol says she wants one of those machines as Nancy tells her they can purchase one online retailing about $100K. The second ambulance arrives and they take the boy as he asks to call his mother. TK, Tommy and Nancy stay behind as they wait for a towtruck to help them, but suddenly no one knows where TK is.

Paul finds a trash can, explaining to Lindsey she needs to get naked as the cold clothes is going to make her colder. He reassures her that she will not be naked and will use his firefighter coat. He jokes that she can think of it as the stinkiest wet suit, commenting that it looks good on her.

Judd, Mateo and rescuers meet with Chief Bowman to make another plan to get into the building. He knows they are going back in whether he gives the approval or not, so Bowman calls in for more equipment to help.

Meanwhile, Tommy and Nancy search for TK, finding clothes and him laying naked in a ditch. He grabs a stick pushing them away. Tommy talks to TK saying the reason he is burning up is because all his blood left his extremeties and it’s now at his core and they need to cover him. Him undressing means he is near fatal, Nancy says he is not dying on their watch and coax him to walk with them. He begins speaking in Hebrew but collapses again; this time no heartbeat. Nancy begins chest compressions while Tommy attempts to shock him but the machine reads “maintenance due.”

Paul sits with Lindsey, both slowly falling asleep. He tells her if she falls asleep they will die. He begins talking about dating a doctor, saying she put pebbles in her shoes because it pissed her off and its kind of hard to sleep while you’re pissed off. He questions her about what pisses her off and she says she isn’t very aggressive. Paul calls her pathetic and tells her to get real and she says it’s people who make her feel invisible and she hates it. Paul laughs as she yells, calling her “my fireball.” She hopes that wasn’t a ginger joke, only making Paul laugh.

Judd informs Paul that they are about to use the jack hammer, warning it could get a bit jumpy in there. Paul and Lindsey watch the wall as his crew works their way through it. Lindsey watches intently as Paul literally collapses on Lindsey’s shoulder. She uses the radio and informs everyone that she thinks Paul is fading. Judd knows she doesn’t know how to keep him alive, but Judd tells her they are counting on her.

She wakes him up, shouting at him that he needs to tell her what pisses him off. He says that besides yelling in his ear. He says the budget cuts and closing of the 126 pisses him off; he confesses the reason he loves it so much is because of the people. Lindsey keeps him talking as he openly admits that Marjan is his ride or die. Judd is an “all in” there. He tries to tell her about Mateo but he passes out again. He says his captain is Captain Strand and the whole reason he came down there and misses him. Paul is unable to be woken as Lindsey pleads and shakes him. Amazingly the crew breaches the wall and Lindsey shouts where they are, promising Paul he is safe now. He jokingly asks Mateo what took them so long. Lindsey is tearfully reunited with her parents as the crew worries about Paul, mocking him about liking the cold and Judd puts his jacket over him as the EMTs take him away.

At the 9-1-1 call center, Grace helps out an 86 year old woman just jump started her frozen generator and she gives her a gold star. Judd rushes in the center because he wants to give her credit for all the help she gave. She tells him he needs to move as he is making a puddle on the floor. He escorts her into the lunch room, saying he couldn’t bear the thought of her sitting there drinking chamomile tea. He wanted reassurance that his girls are both okay and brought her English Breakfast tea. Grace learns that no one has heard from Marjan, but Judd doesn’t seem concerned and rushes off again.

Marjan wakes up inside her car, after the accident. Her phone doesn’t work and she is unable to open her door, saying the Captain is going to pay her deductable. She manages to get out of the vehicle and begins wandering.

Owen is in the thick of things, calling out for anybody but suddenly falls down a hillside, through various trees, laying on the ground.

Nancy hugs Carlos Reyes (Rafael L. Silva) as he arrives at the hospital. He says this is typical TK, not wanting to talk to him in months and now only wants to see him because he is in the hospital. Nancy informs him that TK didn’t ask her to radio him but before Nancy can explain what is happening they are interrupted by a woman who calls them a hero; Nancy says that was all TK. She leans in and tells Nancy they are all praying for her friend. She tells Carols that things are not good and they are waiting on work from Tommy. Captain Tommy Vega comes out, saying they need to find TK’s father NOW.

Owen wakes up in a barn, saying they found him in the storm and brought him in there. There is a barn full of illegals and the woman he is speaking to is warned not to speak to him nor reveal anything. He says he doesn’t care where they came from, just glad they came, reassuring them that he is not police. He introduces himself and begins to check on everyone in there. He says they cannot stay in their barn as it is too cold and they can’t have that fire inside because people will get hurt.

Owen learns their story and what the coyotes have done. The guy Owen helped walks in the door with a blanket wrapped around him. He shouts in Spanish and raises his gun. Owen now realizes that his patient is the coyote all of them were running from.

THE END!
