In tonight’s 9-1-1 Lone Star episode a couple with a baby call 911. The woman just ran over a knight. Owen and the team arrive. Its the same woman they met last week who also hit someone. They cannot get the knight’s helmet off. They cut it off with a saw. The man under the helmet is delirious. Possible CO2 poisoning. They cannot figure out why he is wearing the helmet. Owen investigates. Maybe his work. They head to his job. The whole place is dressed in mid evil costumes and are delirious.
Owen and some of the team pay Paul a visit. He is doing better. Mateo gets a call. His dad is at a bar. Which is strange. His dad doesn’t drink. He heads there to find Captain Tatum who is drunk. The captain rages on about the death of Darby, fires and freedom. Mateo takes him home to Owen’s since he doesn’t know where the captain lives.
The captain wakes complete confused. Owen makes him a hangover cure. The captain has Darby’s funeral. Mateo offers to go and support him. Meanwhile, Judd tries to talk Marjan about Paul. They need to make up. Marjan has tried and now she is done. At the funeral, Mateo helps Tatum with his eulogy as he has trouble finding his words.
Back at the station, Tatum asks Mateeo to be his second command with Owen in the room. Mateo was just asking Marjan about what to do about Tatum. He seems off, mentally. Owen tells Mateo to think about it. Mateo says yes instantly. Owen is a little surprised. Later, Owen vents to Judd. They are down two members now. But Own thinks Paul will be back soon. Judd isn’t so sure. He has PTSD. They decide to pay him a visit.
Owen and Judd pay Paul a visit. He is down and not feeling great after they put an internal defibrillator in. Owen whips a remote at him. His reflexes are fine.
Marjan pays Mateo a visit. She cannot believe he is leaving the 126. He tries to explain. H needs to help Tatum. She is upset. He throws Paul in her face. Later, Mateo shows up at his new station. Tatum doesn’t seem to remain hiring him.
Paul meets with Owen and Judd as well as Tommy. Paul doesn’t want to do this. What if his defibrillator kicks in. They talk him into fighting through. He runs obstacle courses. He makes it through the obstacles in time. They all hug.
Mateo talks to the crew while Tatum isn’t around. He asks if they have nothing anything strange. After, Mateo offers to do Tatum’s paperwork when he has trouble. They are sudden called to a fire where Tatum makes a dangerous call. The 126 is there. When Owen has to side with Tatum or Mateo, he chooses Mateo. He chose right when the building goes up in flames. Tatum almost put them all in harms way.
Later that night Owen finds Mateo outside. Mateo thinks Tatum has dementia. Her went to the 129 to help and now he has no job. Owen tells him he does have a job and he will support him. Meanwhile, Marjan and Paul finally make up. He apologizes to her for ghosting her. They hug. Everyone claps as Paul starts the course. Minutes in to the course, his defibrillator kicks off. He takes a minute but gets up and keeps going.
Mateo admits to Tatum he had to report him. Tatum is actually grateful. He is glad he made him his second in command.
