On tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, the team arrives at the scene where a woman is hanging by her jacket from just below the penthouse of a hotel after she fell over the edge. She and her husband were kissing when she fell. The team makes quick work as she screams for help. Their first attempt goes wrong but she catches her floors down out of dumb luck.
Eddie wakes from a bad dream. Bobby is there. Buck took Christopher to school. Eddie is confused and scared. Bobby consoles him. He too has been through some things and bad dreams are his way of working through it. Bobby tells him he needs to find a way to heal.
A man stops to drop something off in a donation box. He drops his car keys in the door so he decides to stand on a box to reach in and grab them. He falls in headfirst. He screams for help while looking for a way out. He sets off the panic alarm on his car parked right next door. No-one comes. Days go by.
The crew is brought to a bowling aisle right next to the donation box. He hears banging. She looks in. She is shocked to find a man who is weak and dazed. She and Bobby cut the bolt outside and get him out.
Lucy sits and talks with a friend. She was the one who caught the woman who fell from the penthouse. She just lucked out, she tells her friend. She isn’t enjoying the limelight. Meanwhile, Hen and her girlfriend play cars with Bobby and Athena. They talk about Lucy’s luck.
A woman on a bike is enjoying a night ride. She rides right in the driving lane with her bike light on. Two cars pass. They are both annoyed. A sign comes flying out of a truck after it hits a bump. A sign in the back whips out at the woman. The team arrives to save her. They are forced to take the sign out of her chest after it impales her. Bobby and Athena start looking into where the sign came from.
Eddie makes dinner with Christopher who picks up on his dad being sad. Eddie explains he is working through some things but it will get better.
Maddie brings the baby to the doctor. Her baby is rushed to the ER. He meets up with them.
Lucy still cannot figure out how she caught that lady. She is working to make sense of it all. Buck tells her to take the wins when she can get them and to just be happy.
Chim and Maddie sit in the waiting room and console one another. Maddie thinks maybe she is to blame. Maybe their child has leukemia or something gene-related. Meanwhile, Eddie attends therapy. After, he vents to Buck about what all of this is about; doing their jobs only to need therapy that affects their family members.
Maddie and Chim learn their baby has a GI blockage. Athena catches two kids stealing a stop sign. Just as they try to get away, a man runs one of the teens over. He lays on the street. Athena helps him. The team arrives. His friend cries as they work on the teen. The teen is stabilized and taken away. Athena lectures the other team.
The woman Lucy saved is a trauma surgeon who ends up saving the teen. The crew talks about the odds of all those who they have saved who nay have gone on to save others.
That night, Athena has a hard time sleeping. In the morning she plays cards to try and stop thinking. Bobby tells her the teen is all right and has made it out of surgery.
Buck’s girlfriend tries to get him to help her get an interview with Lucy. He tells her he cannot do that. But he can tell her how the story ended sweetly. Meanwhile, Eddie and Christopher head to work as part of therapy with horses. Buck goes with them. While they are there, Buck points out that a young buy Eddie saved is also there. He got a second chance because of Eddie.
