In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode a teenager wanted to make a big entrance at her quinceañera. Lourdes was becoming a young woman. She and her father wanted her to float into the party on balloons. But they never expected that Lourdes would see a dead body while up in the air. She saw the body several buildings away.

She called it in and the firefighters went to the house where she saw the body. They found Lenny on the roof. He wasn’t dead. He was still alive and he got on the roof because heavy winds forced him to parachute there. He lost consciousness when he landed. He also couldn’t feel his legs. And it’s a good thing he couldn’t feel his legs.

The bones in his upper legs went through the skin when he crashed on the roof. The newbie thought maybe they could push them back in and Hen gave him an outright “no”. She wasn’t going to risk the man’s ability to walk ever again.

Hen was going sick of tired of the newbie, though. The team hasn’t been the same since Chimney left town to find Maddie and Eddie took a desk job. Eddie hates his new job by the way. He switched because he was a single father. He didn’t want to risk orphaning his son and so he took a safe job by being at the 911 call center. And he hates it because he does nothing all day.

Eddie now answers calls when that’s not what he wants to be doing. He was an action man. Its why he enlisted in the military and its why he went on to become a firefighter. He only picked a desk job because his son was having nightmares of losing him.

Eddie thought it would be better and safer to just take the desk job, but his team hadn’t realized that until Buck had dinner with Eddie and he asked him when he was coming back. This was when Eddie said he’s never come back. He’s made peace with his new job and he told Buck to do the same. And so Buck went to Hen and Bobby and he told them what Eddie said.

This was new to Bobby and Hen. They didn’t want to replace Eddie and now it looks like they have to. Hen was just hoping it wasn’t the newbie. Jonah grates on her nerves. She was sick and tired of him. She wanted the old gang back. Yet, that was looking like a far-off dream.

The team or what remains of it had gotten an unusual call afterwards. They were set to help a family in their car and this family was forced to go at a speed on the highway because they were told if they slowed down that a bomb would go off. Yes, it was the plot of the movie. And still it was true of this situation because the car was rigged.

Bobby and his team along with a female firefighter that on loan had helped get the family out of the car. They also put something so that pressurized pedal didn’t trigger the bomb and so they saved the day. The bomb turned out to be very real. It went off after the car ran out of highway. The family got survive thanks to the team and so the team asked Lucy out for drinks with them.

She got to know the team. She also talked about herself. Eddie saw that at the bar and he didn’t join them. He didn’t think it was his place to join them. Eddie only loved his new job as LAFD liaison when he got to take over the call and assist in the speed-like car situation.

Eddie got yelled at for doing that. He was told he was a guest in their house and that he couldn’t take over an operator’s call like that again. Eddie was back to sitting in the backseat with no action or even drama. He hates his new job. His former team hates moving on without him and yet they had to do it all the same. Buck stayed drinking with Lucy.

She flirted with him. He was tempted to flirt back. He was just beginning to think it was a bad idea to stay on when she kissed him and he kissed her back. It stopped there. It didn’t go any further. Buck shared an uber home with Hen. She made sure he got home safe. She also talked to him about the kiss with Lucy.

Hen advised him to come clean to Taylor. She said Buck didn’t have a poker face. He was going to spill it anyways and so it was best to come clean right from the beginning. Buck was thinking about that as Athena arrested the man responsible for the car bomb. Athena got called to a neighborhood of a hoarder. The hoarder’s house was a mess.

His front yard was a junkyard. The neighbors got mad when one of their own was forced to sell the house undervalue to get away and so that’s when Athena noticed the people who sold their house was the family involved in the car bomb. And so she stopped by their place to talk them about the hoarder.

The family had gotten a court order. Only then the car bomb thing. They never went to court for that court order and so the hoarder was allowed to go about his merry way. It was Athena who put the pieces together. She crossed over to the hoarder. She spoke to him. She tried to bring him in safely and he resisted her. He ran into his house. Athena pursued him. She managed to shift a bunch of junk on him while in the house and that led to his capture.

But Buck never came clean to Taylor. He ended up asking her to move in with him and she said “yes”. Buck then thought he could ignore what happened but Bobby announced that Jonah was joining their team permanently and so was Lucy. Buck was going to have to work with Lucy.

THE END!
