In tonight’s Big Sky episode, Walter was in police custody. He was questioned about the bodies. Jenny and Beau showed him the pictures of three people – Nick, Mary, and Paige. They asked Walter if he killed those people. But the only he was willing to talk about was Paige. He claimed he killed her. It was all he was willing to say. He wouldn’t even tell them his real name. He said he killed Paige and that was it. He stopped talking. He stopped cooperating. He just wanted to go to jail and never mention to anyone that Paige was still alive. He helped her escape his cabin before he turned himself. He wanted to buy her time. Something just long enough for her to get away without anyone following her.
But Sunny suspected Paige was still alive. She went looking for Paige in the woods. She tried to find her body at first and when she didn’t find it that’s when she came to suspect the woman was never murdered. Not like Walter was claiming. Sunny told her husband her suspicions and he told her to stop. He said that Paige was dead. They all needed to accept it. They didn’t know Walter’s secret for sure. Plus, they were too worried about their own secrets. Buck likes to leave bloody hearts on trees. He wipes them off if he sees his wife coming by only that begged question. Was it Walter leaving all those bloody hearts? Or was it Buck?
With Walter staying quiet on everything else, it was hard to make a connection between him to the Barnes family. It didn’t matter that Cormac found an old baby photo of Walter with his mother’s things or that there was a hospital bracelet in there. Sunny was able to dismiss the whole thing. The only ones who knew her secret were Buck and Walter and they were both keeping the other son, Cormac, in the dark. Cormac for his part had been glad the case was solved. He thought he could finally move on with Cassie only Cassie didn’t feel like the case was closed. She still had a few questions for their suspect. Cassie cleared it with Jenny and later she interviewed Walter.
Cassie asked Walter about why the need to state Paige was dead. They didn’t have a body like the other two and so what was special about her? Cassie and Sunny were of one mindset on Paige. They don’t think Walter killed her and Sunny went one step further. Sunny sought out Donno and Tonya. She told them she suspected Paige was still alive. They realized they have more chances at the money. The same money that Avery was after. Avery was told he had twenty-four hours to unravel the pages he got or else someone will be paying a visit to his family and it won’t be a nice visit or even friendly.
Avery knew he couldn’t break the code in the pages. Not in 24hrs. Which was what the dangerous men wanted and so Avery tried to get his family out of town. Avery suggested to Carla that they take a break. Get out of town for a bit. But Carla shot that down. She said Emily was just getting settled. She didn’t want to rock the boat and she also didn’t want to go off with Avery after she learned he’s been keeping secrets from her. Carla said she was staying put. This put destroyed Avery’s plans to protect them. And to make things worse, there were Donno and Tonya sniffing around again thanks to Sunny.
The same Sunny that finally came clean to Cormac. She told him the mountain man was his brother. She also said that she wants to go see him in prison and that no one was going to stop her. It didn’t matter that Buck thought that was an awful idea. Sunny promised herself that she would never abandon Walter again. While those three have a family meeting, Jenny and Beau solved a case. They realized a rookie smokejumper was murdered by checking his equipment and finding someone had cut his chute. And so they went digging to the point they found out Brett Baker wasn’t the only victim in a crime spree.
The sheriff and the deputy ended up solving their case. But Cassie wasn’t done with hers. Cassie went back to the mountain man’s cabin. She went digging for clues or mementos. Cassie almost came across Sunny, but Sunny got what she wanted and she later burnt it without anyone around to stop her. And while she was singing to herself by the fire, Paige revealed herself. Paige was willing to help Sunny get Walter out of prison. They just needed to form a plan.
And as for Avery, he cracked Paige’s code.
THE END!
