Tonight’s episode begins with Bull and Chunk who arrive at a military base after a soldier is accused of murder. The soldier confessed to killing his best friend off base, another soldier. Bull has been called in by a Colonial Taggart, who is also a psychiatrist and friend. He deals with soldiers who have PTSD.

Bull and Chunk meet with the soldier named Carter who tells them he was drinking with his buddy Nathan. A car backfired nearby. He took Nathan’s gun and shot him. He knows that much because Nathan is dead but he doesn’t know anything else because he doesn’t remember. Later, Bull tells his friend he doesn’t see how he can help. Carter will be forced to make a plea deal. He confessed. Bull’s friend believes there is so much more to argue. They agree to take the case.

Chunk has breakfast with his daughter Anna. She tells him she is covering the military murder. He knows this is because her editor believes Anna can get information from her dad. They decide to keep it church and state.

Marissa has an attraction French man visit her at work. Danni and Taylor are curious about what it’s all about, unaware he has brought her an art piece. Marissa also helps to consult him on a snafu with an auction house.

In court, Nathan’s wife takes the stand and talks about how Carter and her husband were fighting prior to his murder. She doesn’t know what it was about but they spent hours arguing in their driveway. After Carter tells Bull and Chunk it was over Nathan contemplated signing up for a new tour.

Taggart comes to Bull and tells him he cannot take the stand to help Carter. The military has forbid him. Bull is angered by this. Taggart asked him to help Carter and now he is leaving him behind.

Marissa visits an auction house with her friend. She tries to help but the auction house picks up on the fact that Marissa isn’t in fact a lawyer. Back at the office, the team tries to come up with a new plan without Taggart on board.

Danni goes to a local shooting range to purposefully run into some soldiers from the base. She sparks up a conversion about the recent murder and PTSD. She meets a soldier who knows Carter. He shows her a video of Carter blacking out at a birthday party in the park when some children were playing with snaps. Set to share the information in court, the team’s plan to focus on PTSD ends when Anna writes about how Carter and Nathan’s wife had an affair.

In court, the team is blindsided and angry. Chunk tells Anna he plans to add her to the witness list, knowing it will place a gag order on her. Meanwhile, Carter tells Bull he is done and will plead guilty. He doesn’t want to cause Nathan’s wife more pain. Later, Danni tells Bull she will dig deeper. Why would Carter want to give up now? His affair is public.

Marissa and Taylor talk about her French friend. She is interested but wants to win against the auction house. She heads back there and threatens to tell all of his clients set to attend his auction that the piece he plans to sell is a stolen artifact.

Danni gets video footage from a neighbor next to Nathan’s house. She gets a video of Carter giving Nathan CPR. Nathan tried to kill himself by running his car. Carter has been covering up Nathan’s PTSD and suicidal ideation this whole time. Carter lied so that everyone would still see Nathan as a hero. He confesses on the stand the next day. Carter is found not guilty.

Carter consoles Nathan’s wife who is mad at herself. She didn’t see his pain. Chunk apologizes to his daughter. They head to lunch. Meanwhile, Marissa makes a date with her French friend.
