In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, Javi is a great kid. Cruz and Chloe didn’t regret taking him in for a second. They’ve grown very much attached to him and they wouldn’t mind if he stayed with them longer. But they know that the state is looking for blood relatives. Finding a relative was important. They have more claims to the boy and they knew who to contact back home to let the family know he was safe.
Javi was an unaccompanied minor and his family don’t know what’s become of him. Javi also wanted word of his family. He likes staying with Cruz and he’s learning English only he needs consistency. He needs to know when he can make a place his home and he doesn’t know if he could do that at Cruz’s place. And so finding a relative was important.
Cruz has been taking him to school. He’s been helping him with his homework. Even if he doesn’t truly understand fractions anymore, he still gave it his best. Cruz’s job doesn’t deal with fractions. He was a proud firefighter and he was good at it. He went to work after dropping off Javi. They got called to a nasty car accident and it was one of the worst they’ve ever seen. There were pieces of the car all along the road.
The passenger in the backseat was DOA. There was another passenger that was a woman and she managed to survive. The driver also survived. He didn’t need any help in walking because he walked away from the ambulance once Violet and the new girl’s back were turned.
The police got called in. The most that Violet and newbie Emma Jacobs could remember is that the driver smelled of booze. He was most likely drinking and driving and he left before he could be charged with vehicular manslaughter. But Kidd later found a banknote in her pocket. She thinks it was tied to the driver who fled.
She also thinks the female passenger put it there. The passenger was claiming not to know the driver. She said she was just getting a ride with the guy who died. Only Kidd visited her in the hospital. She didn’t even know the man’s name. She must have known the driver and Kidd knows why she’s keeping it a secret.
She noticed bruises on the girl’s neck. Old bruises that were healing. They were bruises of someone being choked out and Kidd would know because her ex-husband gave her bruises like that once. Kidd mentioned it to Severide. They both realized they needed to turn the banknote over to the police. They did so and then it was up to the police to follow it up. The police tried to track down the guy from the banknote. The most they got was a surveillance camera. They still couldn’t ID the man. They ran prints from the car and they also got them nothing and so they later told Kidd this. Kidd realized that Adrianna was the only one who could identify the driver.
She went back to the hospital. She talked to Adrianna. She promised to protect Adrianna if she spoke out and Kidd was doing this as Crux attended his first parent-teacher conference. The guys at the station all warned him that it was going to be bad. But it wasn’t. Cruz found out that Javi doing well at school. He was doing so well that the teacher gave Cruz all of Javi’s homework assignments of the past year and told him it was his job to get Javi caught up on everything he missed. That is if they want Javi to be on-trend to graduating to the next grade. And so Cruz and his wife spent the night in getting Javi up to date with everything.
They later heard from the city that they haven’t been able to get in touch with this aunt Javi talks about. They put up fliers with his photo and they’ve gotten nothing back. It’s starting to look like Javi might become a permanent guest at Cruz’s. Cruz and Chloe were asked if they mind and they don’t. they were talking about it when Violet went off. Violet found out someone reported her relationship with Hawkins to brass. She thought it had been Gallo. She even confronted Gallo and Gallo told her that it wasn’t him. He had actually tried to warn her that Righetti had told everyone at Molly’s about seeing her and Hawkins kissing.
Gallo then told Violet that he would never seek to hurt her. So, he was hurt by her accusations because now he feels she no longer trusts him. He went out drinking at Molly’s afterward. He started flirting with the new girl. She seemed alright. An adrenaline junkie but otherwise alright. And Violet meanwhile was repairing her relationship with Hawkins. They tried to give each other space and they just weren’t capable of it. And now they’re back together.
Javi also didn’t mind that they were unable to track down his aunt. He likes staying with Cruz and Chloe. He told them as much and they were happy to have him.
Adrianna went with Kidd to report her boyfriend. It turns out the boyfriend had abducted the passenger who died and now she just has to testify against him.
THE END!
