Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) should be heartbroken after failing to stop Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) marriage. It looks like Eric will have to watch Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) become Nicole’s new husband, so that’ll bring some devastation on DOOL.
It’s easy to see that Eric is still in love with Nicole – and Nicole still loves Eric too despite her claims about moving on with Rafe.
Just because Nicole’s committed to Rafe doesn’t mean she truly belongs with him.
Nicole can certainly create a decent future with Rafe, but she’ll always have to wonder what might’ve been.
You can bet Nicole would be happier if she was able to fix things with the love of her life – and that’s Eric!
Nevertheless, Days spoilers say there’ll be issues that prevent Nicole and Eric from reunited bliss.
When Eric and Nicole split, Nicole decided that Eric was a better version of himself when they were apart.
That may be one reason why Nicole isn’t running back into Eric’s arms right now.
Nicole may think she’s doing Eric a favor by staying away and doubt that he even wants her anymore.
There’s also the matter of Nicole caring for Rafe and not wanting to hurt him.
Rafe is a good man and someone Nicole had a close friendship with before they wound up in romantic territory. Nicole doesn’t want to ruin that or shatter Rafe’s heart.
Not to mention things are just easy with Rafe – at least now that Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) is out of the picture.
Sometimes Days characters stick with the simple path to avoid the harder one.
It would definitely be harder for Nicole to walk away from Rafe and take a gamble on whether she’d be able to repair her relationship with Eric.
Meanwhile, we’ve got Eric, who believes Nicole has found happiness with Rafe and doesn’t want to ruin that.
Eric has an inner battle going on since he still wants to be with Nicole deep down, especially now that the priesthood isn’t holding him back.
Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) will push Eric to speak up while he still can, but will Eric have the guts to do it?
There are a couple ways this could go as we build to Nicole and Rafe’s wedding day.
Eric might indeed speak up and get shot down due to Nicole’s commitment to Rafe.
Nicole might turn Eric down and stick with Rafe due to all the complications we already mentioned.
Then again, it’d be in character for Eric to hold his tongue and suffer in silence. Nicole may marry Rafe thinking that Eric doesn’t truly want her back anyway.
It might be a situation where Nicole is waiting on Eric to fight for her while Eric assumes that’s not the right call.
No matter how this plays out, Nicole seems poised to marry Rafe since Galen Gering was spotted on set wearing a wedding ring as part of Rafe’s wardrobe.
That doesn’t mean the marriage will last, but Nicole and Rafe will apparently tie the knot – leaving Eric crushed on the sidelines.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Eric and Nicole’s love story isn’t over, but there’ll be more challenges before they can hopefully make their way back to each other.
