Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, January 7, reveals that Johnny DiMera’s (Carson Boatman) confession rocked Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) as the devil fully took over. Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) also threw up on Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) after a terrible premonition, so let’s discuss how all Friday’s DOOL drama played out.
At home, Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) got a phone call about Chanel and Johnny’s last-minute wedding reception.
After Allie filled Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) in, he pointed out he was on call and might have to bail on the party at some point.
Tripp pointed out that he was a full-fledged doctor now, he couldn’t get someone to cover and had to show up if needed.
Later, Tripp was indeed called to the hospital, so Allie made her way to the DiMera mansion alone.
Meanwhile, Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) showed up at Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) and Eli Grant’s (Lamon Archey) apartment.
Paulina tried to get them to attend Chanel and Johnny’s last-minute wedding reception, but Lani acted like they needed to stay with the twins and shut Paulina down.
However, Eli had a little chat with Lani afterward and helped her decide that being there for Chanel was the right call. He decided to stay with the twins alone while Lani joined the celebration across town.
At the DiMera mansion, Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) and Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) were back from Europe.
They expressed excitement over Johnny’s new marriage, but EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) complained about Chanel being a gold digger.
EJ also acted like Paulina had tacky taste based on the party decorations, but Paulina walked in and got him to settle on “festive.”
Tony and Anna were delighted to meet Paulina, but there was some awkwardness once Allie showed up and walked over with Chanel.
From the moment Chanel and Allie came in, Anna thought those two had something special going on! Anna didn’t know how else to say it except that they looked so right together.
Paulina got a tad uncomfortable as she confirmed that was true. She hyped up Allie and Chanel as best friends, business associates and now sisters-in-law – leaving out any hint of a past romantic connection.
Upstairs, Johnny was unsettled as he looked in the mirror and stammered that this couldn’t be happening.
Johnny’s devilish reflection insisted that it was. He told “Giovanni” they were looking so hot tonight and thought they could set this whole town on fire if Johnny would just stop fighting him.
At the townhouse, Marlena opened the door to Susan, who tried to cast the devil out with her cross.
Susan also threw holy water on Marlena, who finally convinced her the devil was gone.
After Susan joined Marlena inside, she was suddenly stuck with some terrible affliction – right as the devil fully took over Johnny.
Susan’s body jolted up before she vomited on Marlena’s shoes. She wanted to attend the wedding bash she’d been invited to, but Marlena insisted on taking her to the hospital instead.
Once Susan was admitted as a patient, Tripp got updates on what had gone down.
Susan talked about having one of her premonitions, but she felt this one more strongly than the others. She insisted that it literally made her sick!
Back at the DiMera mansion on Friday’s Days episode, Johnny made a grand entrance.
“Here’s Johnny!” he exclaimed as he burst through the doorway of the living room. Johnny certainly didn’t seem like himself as he greeted everyone at the party.
Next on Friday’s Days episode, EJ managed to suck it up and offer a decent toast welcoming Chanel the family.
Paulina also forced Johnny to call her “Mama Price” and thought it was easy to see what Chanel wanted. She just urged Johnny to keep Chanel happy or else he’d have to answer to her mother!
Allie once again apologized for how she initially reacted to the marriage and truly hoped Chanel would be happy with Johnny forever.
Lani shared some sweet words as well before Chanel thanked everyone. There was a toast to the married couple before Johnny kissed his bride, but trouble soon followed.
Johnny made a speech about how much he admired Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) and talked about how some people viewed him as evil.
Johnny admired Stefano instead and admitted it had taken some time to figure out what he wanted, but he’d finally come to realize it wasn’t Chanel.
Johnny told Chanel that he was sorry, but he didn’t want to be married to her anymore.
That left Chanel looking absolutely horrified!
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Chanel’s heartbreak is only going to get worse from here, so stay tuned to DOOL.
