Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that it might be time to bring Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) back from the dead. Has the Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) drama run its course?
Jake was a fun character in the beginning, but he’s kind of lost his luster by now.
The average Joe shtick got old fast – and it honestly never made sense why Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) would even want a guy with Jake’s personality.
Days has tried to recreate the magic of Stefan and Gabi by pairing her up with Jake, but it just isn’t there.
That’s probably why DOOL can’t seem to come up with anything better for them than corporate conflict, which is never as exciting as the true soap tropes.
There’s the potential for some juicy stuff to happen with the devil in the mix, but it’s not enough to make Jake and Gabi interesting long-term.
Should Days bring Stefan DiMera back from the dead instead and make him a couple with Gabi again?
We know Stefan wound up brain dead following a gunshot wound and ultimately had his heart removed for a transplant.
However, there are certainly soapy ways around that since other characters have died in equally gruesome and “final” ways before coming back.
There might even be a way to let Stefan return without jumping through major hoops.
Just look at this situation with Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), who was drugged and now fully believes she’s dead Renee DuMonde (Philece Sampler) because of a diary she read.
Why not put Jake through a similar ordeal where he gets drugged and somehow comes to believe he’s Stefan?
We wouldn’t need some crazy explanation for why Stefan came back if he’s not the real one.
That would also fix another problem that’s plagued Stefan’s character.
One reason the show has perhaps been reluctant to let Stefan return is the response they got after he slept with mentally ill Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller).
By taking “Gabby” to bed during the dissociative identity disorder storyline, Stefan became a rapist.
The show finally acknowledged that Abigail couldn’t consent to sleeping with Stefan, but the damage to Stefan’s character was done.
If Jake simply comes to believe he’s Stefan, then it’s not like he actually lived his life or violated Abigail.
We’d get the benefits of having “Stefan” back without any of the pitfalls – and with any luck, maybe Jake’s memory issues could be irreversible!
Regardless, it’d be great if Days could let Stefan return in some form and give his pairing with Gabi another chance.
